Id agree, if theres a lot of layers, its the safer option. But if whats on there is sound, unless you are aiming for perfection, id knock it back a touch and repaint. Theres always the slight risk of a reaction, but stick a coat of epoxy primer over sound paint and you will minimse that. A...

After an excellent trip to portugal via france and spain, and the same on the way back, along with visits to places ive never heard of never mind visted, it was time to return back to the UK Sadly, the return also reminded me of the job on the Triumph Stag i needed to sort out. Prior to going...

Either 40 or 80 grit on the DA. No finer, otherwise you wil be polishing the steel which will cause you adhesion issues later. Whatever you do, its hard work. Do you really need it all off?

I repaired the obvious rust in thechassis (no pics) and got it loaded on a trailer to go the blasters. Along with fuel tank. After cutting of the mud trap, i mean guard. After the round trip dropping off the chassis to the blasters, engine and gearbox to the machinist, and the cylinder head...

Its been a while since i last updated this. A combination or work, and a whirlwind of activity to get various bit of Atlas dropped off at places prior to a month away conspired to prevent me doing so. Having got the workshop to a point where work can be done, even if its a long way from...

Luxury. In the UK, you have councils wanting minimums of 20 house's per acre, often higher than that.

As dutchgrey said, theres companies that sell electricity (and gas). The company that makes and distributes electricity doesnt sell it to you, though it may have a subsidury that does. This structure is just one of the many reasons why our electricity is the most expensive in the developed...

I can see a generator being cheaper from an up front cost, but the running costs are high to put it mildly as you are almost never running at peak efficiency. Or are you planning on tying this into to batteries? Its something id discounted previously, so interested to see how you make it work.

Since October 2023, building control cannot be and mustnt be helpful. If they are, they run the risk of being struck off. After October 23, many private building control companies have ceased trading. You may find things are rather different future. I dont, and i suspect the OP does not have...

Sadly, in this country our demands are highest when the sun doesnt shine! And heat pumps are power hungry. Do the maths, but oil is still cheaper. And likely to remain so for a good while. Nobody is going to part me from my oil boiler. When i re-work the house, the system will be configured to...

Max 3.86kw into the grid. ****** all essentially. Anything more needs specific approval. Ive been round and round this. Anything profesionally installed the payback is usually over 10 years if you remove man maths from it, and factor in the inevitable failures of the electronic components. I...

Its becoming increasingly hard to get anyone to do anything "non standard". Dont forget, changes in building control now mean they cant make suggestions or lead you to an answer. Its just yes, we accept, or no we dont. Theres been some people caught out when their architect or SE's plans are...

Thats going to be some big solar array. I did see a nice low hours kubota silienced genny for £4k recently. I convinced myself not to have a generator in the mix as too maintewnance intensive. That said, ive got a solar system on a pallet, but even doing that is fraught with complications and...

Hmmm, this reads just like me! I also have a 3 phase screw 2 poster. Like you, i found that the start up current is too high for a normal phase convertor. So like you, its on a pallet awaiting a new home. I hate hydraulic 2 posters, and with the locking mechanisim, its very difficult to do...
