No tar paper under siding cedar shingles

So I am getting around to all the maintence at the house I put off when building the garage and one of the projects for this year was to replace a 2nd story window. The windows are original to the house so the sill was rotted out and they were pretty inefficient. It was time to pull it out...

    Henrob Torch

If you want to lighten up the weight of the torch go buy a set of the light weight hoses from tinmantech.com. You wouldn't believe how much easier it is to maneuver a torch around with the smaller and lighter hoses. Keith

What kind of weld is this?

Most likely TIG but could be gas welded. It is entirely possible to get nice beads like that if you know what you are doing. Keith

    Value of Van Norman Mill

I wouldn't pay over $500 for it. You can get a nice bridgeport J-head for under the $1500 he is asking. The Van Norman's #2's are tough to get parts for and also don't have an R-8 taper so collets and tooling are harder to find and more expensive. I'm not sure in the pictures but I think the...

Any good tips/tricks working with aluminum?

Forget the wax, chalk your file. It works much better on aluminum. I find a vixen style file works the best for removing large ammounts of metal. For polishing and finishing edges get a scotchbrite deburring wheel for your bench grinder...

    hand riveter that doesn't ****?

If you have an air line available I highly recommend the riveter below. http://www.harborfreight.com/3-16-inch-air-hydraulic-riveter-93458.html Just check to make sure it has enough fluid before you use it the first time. So far I have pulled over 10,000 rivets on a sonex airplane using one...

    Car Lift Rentals?

Don't think you will find one out there. Way too much liability for someone to even consider renting out a lift. Keith
