I'd offer him the $1500, I bought a mb8525, bit deeper than a 7525, for that a year or so ago. Much better built box than a kra for sure, and personally feel a better box than a krl I had. The things a tank.
At work I have: 1/4 drive- 2 flex head and 1 standard
3/8 drive- standard, long handle, long handle flex and a stubby flex
1/2 drive- standard and a long handle flex
I work on a private fleet of about 125 vehicles-1 ton vans, few snow plows, random assortment of cars and mini vans and 2 coach busses. Work out of a Matco 6s that's nearly full, probably will add a locker to it.
When I was a tech at a Ford dealer 15 years ago I had a much smaller snap on box...
Gearwrench 84 tooth flex head. Actually use it way more than my snap on ratchets anymore. That ratchet and some mid depth sockets I use probably 75% of the time at work
What rambling man said, usuallly need a deep socket. If you're not wrenching on cars for a living, buy the sk set you like and just buy axle nut/deep sockets as needed. They usually can be had for $10-20 a piece, and there are some that are 12point and some that are 6.
