Formed and poured your own pad. Who's done it?

I've done all my own concrete work. I usually get someone to help scree the initial poor, and then all bull float and trowel work. I've been real happy with the results with very little cracking. One of the things I've learned is to go a little thicker on the slabs doesn't cost that much more...

    Perma-Column vs Green Post

Out here in the country ,l work around and in them all the time. It's just the way they build pole barns here. Have yet to see a rotted post. I'm sure their must be one or two around. But I haven't seen one yet. The post are supposed to be good for 40 year ground contact.

    Perma-Column vs Green Post

Around here it's all pressure treated posts in the ground , no plastic ,no tar. I've yet to see one with rotted posts. In fact there is a lot of debate about concrete or just gravel around the post in the hole. People are worried that the concrete will cause the end of the post to stay wet.

    Deck board spacing or no

All my decks have 3/8 spacing on purpose . Allows the pine needles to fall through ,and easier to power wash every year. The edges don't rot from constant contact and trapped moisture. Warmer here and wet rainy days here in Oregon. Did I mention pine needles, gobs and gobs of pine needles.

30 x40 woodshop here with an 1-1/4 tongue and groove plywood. All on pier and post. Two stories. I would hate to deal with a concrete floor in my woodshop, no vibration from tools transferred through the wood floor, pleasant to walk on all day , easy on tools or even materials that hit the...
