Home Depot compressor good no good?

Thanks everyone for their input. I had an uneasy feeling about the compressor but thought if it was $200 less, I could feel a little better about it. I will skip it. And the motors you guys are talking about, CH means Campbell Hausfeld? Coincidence, since mine just died last month...I got 5...

Home Depot compressor good no good?

Forgive me, could you elaborate on how you came to this conclusion? What exactly you looked at to know whether the motor is "true 5hp" , etc. It would really help knowing what to look for. Thanks

Home Depot compressor good no good?

HD has an 80gal 2-stage compressor for $799. We need to buy a refrigerator and would get a rebate of around $200. Would this be a good compressor to buy? The rebate would really help in the price department!

    Dual voltage machines-NEMA confusion

Nah, I'll just have someone else make it!:bounce: I had all the 110V parts in my basket at Home Depot but thought, "i don't need this stuff..." so I put it all back.

    Dual voltage machines-NEMA confusion

Yes, I already knew it was auto sensing which I mentioned in the second sentence of my post. Exactly how it's done, I'm not sure. Anyway, I went and got some connectors and appliance cord and made up a pigtail to connect the 110V plug to my 220V receptacle. This way I'm not limiting myself to...

    Dual voltage machines-NEMA confusion

I didn't know I could do that!:headscrat So I just build pigtails for whatever receptacle I want? Any suggestions on wire sizes, etc.? Thanks guys

    Dual voltage machines-NEMA confusion

It's a Thermadyne Cutmaster 38. The plug it came with is a 5-20. I was wondering how the auto voltage thing worked. I was actually expecting to see the unit with two pigtails when I opened the box! Thanks, Owen

Custom Wiring for Advising That Garage is Open??

I did something similar a while back. Never seen the LM before, and have some questions on it. 1.Tells you if your garage door is open or closed from any room in your home...When light flashes red, door is open ****So you have to carry that pager thing around? What I did was use the SmartHome...

    Dual voltage machines-NEMA confusion

It's been a while since I was here last. I have a new plasma cutter which advertises "120/240V auto sensing dual voltage". That's fine and dandy but theres no way (that I know of) to use 120 or 240V off the single plug...aside from splicing in a 120V cord. Or having some sort of physical...

    CH air compressor died!

Thanks everyone, I was thinking of calling an authorized shop and asking them what to look for. If I have to replace it, I'll get a CH one with the overload protection. A friend also mentioned Northern Tools as a source, I'll look into them after I talk to a shop. Owen

    CH air compressor died!

Two weeks after the garage door opener dies, my Campbell Hausfeld air compressor's motor dies! Is this a sign....??? Anyway, does anyone have any experience doing a DIY repair, what to look for when troubleshooting, etc? I read on the net that some motors have a bad temp. sensor. The wall...

    Harbor Freight tubing notcher

OK, so anyone know if the larger shoes are available for sale individually to use with the smaller bender?

    Harbor Freight tubing notcher

Thanks, some people have been able to avoid the kinks by sliding a slightly larger steel tube over the pipe (where, I forgot).

    Harbor Freight tubing notcher

Harbor Freight tubing bender I've heard that HF benders, the big orange ones, end up kinking the tube. But have also heard of ways of avoiding that. I want the 2.5-3" capacity bending shoes of the more expensive model but they never have those in-store. Anyone know if I can buy just the...

    Harbor Freight tubing notcher

I need to get a tubing notcher now and Harbor Freight has two of them with basically the same specs, but one is $30 more. Anyone know why? I'd rather have one with a 2.5-3" pipe capacity though, but I won't be using this thing very often so I don't want to spend $$$. Owen

    Need opinion on drill press

So far so good! I need to get a tubing notcher now and Harbor Freight has two of them with basically the same specs, but one is $30 more. Anyone know why? I'd rather have one with a 2.5-3" pipe capacity though...I should start a new thread...

    Need opinion on drill press

Well, if I measured the right way, it's 0.05" runout. I measured all around the spindle. Owen

    Need opinion on drill press

Yes, I have a dial indicator etc. It'll have to been done a while from now tho. We're doing the windows on the house and everything in the garage is pushed to one side. And next weekend I'm in Vegas. The name on the head is Delta. Owen

    Need opinion on drill press

Got it yesterday and it rocks! I don't know what people were saying about the noise. Compared to other stuff in my garage, it's a whisper! Thanks again to all! Owen
