To my understanding buffers don't spin in a perfect circle like a grinder would. They move a bit to help avoid getting circular patterns and gives you a more consistent looking polish. Hopefully that makes sense... I'm not always the best at describing things. [emoji16]

I'm sure you already know this if you own a lathe but be sure to use LOTS of lubrication to keep it as cool as possible. You wouldn't want to normalize the piece by accident.

The page says that they're 6 point. And the T is just part of the product numbers. If you search them on the snapon website you'll also get a bunch of torx drivers in your results but you'll find the sockets towards the bottom of the page.
