    Pole barn builder (building plans)

In 2017 when I shopped for my pole barn I received any set of plans I wanted. After signing the contract, I obtained the permit from the county and the inspectors only visit with contractor was morning of day one to inspect footings. The barn was completed (minus cement) within 3 days of...

    Basement water :-(

Similar to what Mike Folks mentioned above - I had a leaky basement with the full size window well and adjacent block as the main source of problem. I manually excavated the area around window well 4' on each side and applied tar covered by a thick rubber membrane. It has been dry ever since...

    Signed the papers. 28X64x10

Congrats! Any reason you didn't choose 32' x 64' to take advantage of the 8' dimensional lumber? Oh - I second the 12' walls - room to grow!!

    Men's Project Night Suggestions?

I’m with the “no” crowd for reasons already mentioned- the main ones being freeloading and those who have skills should also have their own space/tools. Plus, on a personal level I don’t need any new friends - with work and my own projects I barely have time for the friends I have now. If you...

4-Post Lift Slab Versatility - New Construction

Seems weird the "existing slab" requirement wouldn't be enough for a new slab. Many 2-post lifts have similar requirements to the listed specs for the "existing slab." 6" and rebar should be more adequate for residential use.

    Rotary SPO10-TA 2-Post Lift

Not same lift but related - I have a Derek Weaver W-Pro10 Black Label 10K certified lift - made by VSG who also makes Rotary. It was $3099 including truck pads and the screw type pads - now priced at $3499. It has super-symmetric arms which means you can use asymetric or symetric...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Hi all- this past Sunday I picked up a Wilton 8300N and the Columbian 504 1/2 for ridiculously low prices. Obviously I’m very happy. The Wilton is minus the lockdown hardware but functional none the less. I plan to clean both up and attempt a restoration.

    Scored two old vises today

Thanks- as I was posting I figured a “you ****” was due! Lol So the owner of the shop passed and his wife has a friend of the late husband selling everything- it is a very overwhelming situation and I made the offer for the Wilton first - quickly accepted. The Columbian - the lady says- give me...

    Scored two old vises today

A machine shop about an hour away had these - picked the Wilton 8300N up for $20 and the Columbian 504 1/2 for $10. Obviously I’m very happy. The Wilton is minus the two pins that allow it to swivel. Are these available anywhere and what is proper name? Also bought a NuSteel tool chest...
