DeWalt 24” Drum Fam From Costco?

I bought one at the beginning of last summer I think. It’s run all day 3-4 days a week for the last two summers. There might be a better deal out there somewhere, but it’s been great to me so far.

What kind of concrete block is this?

8x18 gives you 1 face foot. Never seen cmu like that but we install a ton of segmented retaining walls that are 8x18

    Fixing broken cap on step

There are some really impressive glues, adhesives, thinsets, etc out there. I install hardscape for a living. There is nothing I can think of that I would trust as a long term solution in Alabama, much less in the freezing climate of Ontario. Especially if you are covering it with a handrail...

Big box stores military discount slowly disappearing?

My brothers are veterans and I thought about how big of an advantage it could be to the right veteran turned contractor. I was helping him do some renovations and he got some major discounts with it. If you are spending over 1000 bucks or so, get it priced through the pro desk. I have gotten...

    Your press ever scare you?

I don’t remember what I was doing, but I was being “creative” taking apart a bearing to make something. I didn’t have a ton of pressure on it when it let go. Not gonna lie, I checked myself for leaks afterwards. I did find part of the bearing ring that broke in the Sheetrock wall of my...

Has Vince at VCG Construction Gone to "The Dark Side"?

Never heard of the guy until now. I searched for him and maybe made into 30 seconds of the video. Don’t know how annoying he is or not, but how can you trust a guy’s reviews with such clean tools. I am not advocating abusing your tools, but I trust the review of the guy whose tool has some...

Should I run a metal blade in my 14" chopsaw?

The carbide tipped saws are awesome. Mine is a dewalt. I think it spins 1300-1500 rpm. I will have to look when I get home

What is more versatile for a noob, a (hammer) drill or an impact driver?

I never understood the benefit of an impact until I bought one. Probably one of the last power tools I would give up. I probably use it more than anything else I have. I have 3 now so I can have multiple bits without swapping. They are awesome

Removing red chalkline? I need some advice please.

Red is tough. I feel like whatever you do is escalating wear on the surface. I have never tried it, but may try some clr or some other kind of rust remover. I would guess the red is red oxide derived, but that’s pure speculation.

Attic cooling - 2 powered roof fans are too many?

I like that aerobarrier stuff. I don’t know if I could ever use it at my current house but that would be awesome in a remodel/gut where you are refinishing every surface anyway Any idea of cost

Attic cooling - 2 powered roof fans are too many?

I have a house built in the late 50’s in Birmingham, Alabama. That doesn’t really matter for my question, but what you just said is what I have been trying to figure out. We are going to be doing some work in the near future. I am looking at trying to “tighten” my house up. I haven’t...

    Car mat cleaning life hack

I have used auto carpet cleaner on stuff like that and it works pretty good. I rinse off, then spray with the foaming carpet cleaner, agitate with soft to medium brush and rinse off. Probably 3-5 minutes each.

Motor starter for 5hp single phase

My name plate says it’s pulling 21 amps at 230 volts and 23 amps at 208 volts. My power runs a touch over 240. I thought going by the starters chart and the motor plate that 1044 on the low side were the correct size for the heaters. I have not checked the amps while running. My 3hp says 19...

No apologies necessary, you were trying to be helpful. I should have included that in my post.

Motor starter for 5hp single phase

Sorry Sorry, unless you live on Coronado dr in Hoover, AL, you are a plane ride away. I got excited, because Coronado drive is really close to me, but I then looked at your profile and saw the CA followed your Coronado.☹️

Motor starter for 5hp single phase

I have a Quincy 240 that I am putting a magnetic starter on. I have a NOS cutler hammer nema size 1. Says NO A10CG0. I am going to be honest in the fact that I have no idea how the mag starter actually works. This is a 3 phase starter, but I need to wire it up single phase 240 volts. I...

    PVC fittings shelf life

Like noeyez said, UV gets it. If you have pipe in use exposed to sunlight, painting it helps protect it. A pool builder friend that moved back east said that it is code in Arizona to paint the pipe on an equipment pad. He couldn’t believe no one here does it.

    Quincy 310 Compressor Questions

I would try lapping/rebuilding the valves. Also, 1.5 hp is going to be on the low end of what can run that compressor. I will try to remember to measure mine tomorrow. Mine had a 1.5 hp motor when I rebuilt it. I swapped it to a three and I think that I am in the 800-850 rpm range now...

Where to buy bermuda seed in bulk?

Common Bermuda is cheaper to start with because you can seed it, but if you can put the hybrid in it will save you money long term because you can go longer between cutting. I seeded my last house because I didn’t know better, but after messing with it for the time I had it, I would have looked...

    Concrete disaster

If it were mine, I would have a discussion with the concrete plant. I feel like they would owe him a slab. I think in the court of law, they should lose. I have little faith when lawyers are involved is why I said should. On commercial jobs where they know they are going to be tested, and...
