First sign of the G2 Icon ratchets ….

That's just silly. I don't have the just-released ones (not as much use for 1/4"), but I have and use 3/8" SO, Icon (G1 and G2), Matco, USA SK and Ko-ken ratchets. The only one that stands clearly above the others when you're actually using them is the Ko-ken for it's crazy-smooth and...

Icon G2 Ratchets vs Snap On

Not all YouTube reviews are by professionals, either users or content creators. It's kinda the reason I put my stuff up on YouTube as a "regular guy" perspective. Owning and having used several Icon and Snap On ratchets side by side (I like to switch ratchets vs. swap sockets), my in-hand...

Icon G2 Ratchets vs Snap On

It's funny - it's a factor I've thought about and put into a quick/smaller version of a video I did a couple years ago (skip to 3:20 for the 'slop' bit) I wanted to do a much larger version of before my life got flipped by a series of events starting soon after (and the hits keep on coming, but...

Icon G2 Ratchets vs Snap On

That's only really true if you're talking a Genesis (a Hyundai division) to a Lexus. From what I've heard, Genesis is doing a pretty good job, though to make your analogy accurate A new Genesis would need to cost half or less than the Lexus. For the real-life premium, I'd probably buy the...

Icon G2 Ratchets vs Snap On

I use my M12 ratchet, but not as often as I use my regular ratchets. (I also got the Insider recently, but haven't had a chance to use it yet). I can't really explain why.

New Icon G2 Wrenches? (Not just Ratchets)

It looks like six years ago or so - 2019. I'd guess they announced them at SEMA the year before??

New Icon G2 Wrenches? (Not just Ratchets)

I think you might well be right that it's a supplier thing - that was my first guess as well. Or maybe HF doesn't like having something so obviously from the same factory/supplier as Milwaukee and Carlyle. Their new ratchets (which I like fine but don't vibe with quite as well as the G1 for...

Milwaukee M12 Insider Ratchet - yay or nay?

I have to say I'm mighty tempted - I like the idea of running hex bits and a longer, shallower ratchet doesn't hurt my feelings at all. Plus the ability to run 1/4" sockets if i want (and I'm guessing my Koken 1/4" might be shallower than the Insider sockets). I literally got as far as payment...

New Icon G2 Wrenches? (Not just Ratchets)

Agree. That would be nice. I don't like or use their trays because they take up too much space. I'm not sure I'd use the foam either (too much space) but I guess it depends on configuration. It's possible their ODM/contracted factory is moving on. Their A-S design is shared with Milwaukee...

New Icon G2 Wrenches? (Not just Ratchets)

I sorta doubt it - they're already within 6% or so of the FD+ with "their" design (Milwaukee and Carlyle use the same ODM, though the beam and/or length are different) in the latest round of TTC testing. That round didn't include Mac's RBRT, which was at the top of the previous rounds of...

New Icon G2 Wrenches? (Not just Ratchets)

You can 100% buy replacement tools. I just did it when I lost a plate for my brake caliper kit. Four bucks including tax and free shipping. They could make it easier (their website is pretty weak), but it's not hard.

Need a portable impact for getting off semi/trailer lug nuts? Milwaukee isn't cutting it

If you're going to get a new battery, go with a FORGE battery - they'll deliver more power to a brushless impact. The 6.0 a bit less than the 8Ah or 12AH, but still more punch than the old HO batteries. The newer FUEL High Torque is a beast would be very surprised if it can't handle it.

    Recommendations for a leaf blower?

Given how they're structuring their warranty and expanding the line, HF has finally convinced me they're more on a Milwaukee/DeWalt model (stable) vs. a Kobalt/Black& Decker (house-brand stability - i.e. little). I use Hercules these days for tools where I want something decent or better but...

    Fireball Compact Hardtail Vise

If I needed a beefy mf'er vise to do some heavy work, I'd absolutely grab the Fireball Compact vise. Definitely a lifetime-grade piece of equipment. That's a hell of a workbench, so I doubt the vise would overwhelm it, but I guess it depends on what you're doing.

Is the Den of Tools a shill?

And you know this how? FWIW HF publicly states they do not pay creators or reviewers. They do sometimes provide free products.

Is the Den of Tools a shill?

If that was true and he didn't disclose it, he'd likely get banned from YT. Despite all the theories, they do have policies they enforce.

Is the Den of Tools a shill?

I've gotten free stuff as a reviewer for photography equipment and fine boots. In both scenarios I made it very clear that was going to be entirely honest and pull no punches. In the first case it was a company I was already familiar with and had written about a sorta-unique use for one of...
