Personally I wouldn't buy any house that has vinyl siding period. When we were looking for our farm we must have looked at 40 or 50 different places and everything from new or newer construction to turn of the 20th century. The newer places with vinyl over OSB just didnt seem too solid to me and...

Chinese Cut50 Plasma Cutter group buy interest

I found a bunch of You tube videos on this machine and it sure seems like a pretty good buy for the price to me for lightweight farmer/hobby work.

Another Modified Harbor Freight welding cart for Millermatic 211

Really nice job and some great ideas even for MIGs that fit. I think I will steal your Quick Fist idea if you don't mind, I hate the crappy chains.

    Antique Store

Around here most antique stores are based on consignment where sellers rent booth space so its a mixed bag of people who may or may not know the value of stuff. I like to look for the "Antique" store that looks like Fred Sanford's place (and there are a lot of them around here) because you can...

Can a car guy pour / finish concrete?

Ha! I was just having a bit of fun. I have done a bunch of concrete work since we bought this farm and its not too hard. Like others said, I watched a few Youtube videos for something similar to what I'm doing and it helps a lot. Rent a mixer for big work though...seriously Sent from my iPhone...

Can a car guy pour / finish concrete?

That is actually illegal in parts of California, the state of Massachusetts, 15 counties surrounding Washington DC and the US Virgin Islands....I think.

    New Land!

40 acres butting up to a subdivision is going to end up as 40 acres you will have limited ability to do with as you choose. If you just want 40 acres for a big lawn or to have privacy or as an investment it would be great but if they (those who cannot contain themselves from seeking toi restrict...

NEC Adoption Map - By State

Its a **** shoot in Missouri Nick, much of rural Missouri has no code enforcement at all and in the smaller towns and cities its mostly up to the inspector or permitting head. In the larger cities the code enforcement seems to be whatever NEC the current guy started with (I am not being a smart...

New to the forum, new 3 car pole barn

We have similar ideas right down to the uneven work benches. I too have a tall one so I can see detail and not have to bend over as much (I have a fused neck) and a lower one for hammering and getting leverage and I get asked about it a lot. As for insulation, I have a much milder climate...

    Lighting for new shop

I'm checking out your barn build now, I have 10' ceilings too. So from what I understand, you just wired an extension cord to the lights and are plugging them into duplex outlets right? I kind of like that for ease in replacement if needed. I only have a 60 amp panel (its all new and was given...

    Lighting for new shop

Man this solves a dilemma for me. Ever since I got power to my shop earlier this year I have been struggling with what to do about overhead lighting as flickering fluorescent lighting gives me headaches for some reason. I have a 24'x32' pole barn shop and this is an excellent solution for me...

Above 1200 Sq/FT building my BIG PARTY garage

Don, I saw you mention on the Alemite thread that you were looking at getting another pre-fab station and redoing it as a Gilmore station in your garage. Any chance of you doing a renovation thread on it or are you going to include pics of the build on this thread? I live on Route 66 and there...
