How much money have you invested in tools?

I'll let you know as soon as I get the spreadsheet I started on in November completed. You don't think about all the stupid part #s of every little thing in your box until you actually have to write it all down. As far as how I'm doing it. I organized it by 3 methods: Brand, part # and...

Help me clean the joint up...

I saw earlier mention that the people with the lower post counts seemed to show more support for this policy, and I believe Shocker and Merk's comments above illustrate why. The guys that have been around longer get to know one another better, become friends and people joke with friends...

My fight with a 2 car garage in Suburbia!

Another type of working dog, Border Collies. I have 4. And although they have free reign of the house, the 2 youngest males sleep in their cages (which are not locked ever unless small children visit or some such rare occasion) the older female sleeps under the bed, and the oldest male under...

    Automotive Diagnostic Scan Tools

I deal with alot of customers at work having the same debate and I can say that in my experience that it all depends on what type of scanner you want. Something updateable I'd say new just due to the fact that by the time you get done buying some of the updates you almost have the cost of a new...

    My small Snap-On rant

I have a similiar problem in my area, where there is a route open, and I actually did look into "buying the route" however with the economy the way it is, and the initial investment required, I just am plain too scared to do it. I've got 7years almost 8 where I'm at and buyng my 1st new house...

Unmployment = Extreme Boredom = Extreme Dustpan

What Brasss said! That's awesome, build some stuff like that and sell it! I would pick something with a bit higher profit margin perhaps, but maybe take that handle idea and make some shift knobs or Harley foot pegs, etc etc. Like the pan though!

    Worth $4500?

4k might still be owed to the snap on guy, may be his reasoning. I'm with the others I see 1500-2000 there TOPS.

How does the Matco 88 tooth compare to the SnapOn Dual 80?

Thats because they do... ;) The matco guts in the GW is a neat idea, I just so happen to have a GW ratchet laying around. I think I'll give it a shot.

I hate bing far from a city sometimes

Crappy neighbors 10 feet to each side complaining that you're working in the garage at 8pm on a saturday night, and listening to traffic, sirens, and some idiot blaring the bass from the back of his car in the driveway(its mostly just the license plate and trunk rattle you hear anyways...) is...

Compressor Choice - SnapOn or IR

I can tell you I have an IR2475 that I've had for 3 years and never had an issue other than the gauge got stuck once. When I bought it, the previous owner said that it was about 2 years old, although I can't say for sure. I've always changed the oil every 2-3 months, I don't use it every day...

    looking to buy a welder

been using my lincoln promig 175 for going on 7 years now, I believe it's been replaced since I bought it with a 180amp model. Never had any problem with it other than damage to the lead via someone stepping on it and breaking the liner where it meets the machine. I've welded TONS of stuff...
