Building the "Perfect" Set of Hand Tools

If it's more about quality than investment here is how I would go Keep the old Vise Grips as the new ones are not USA made Any old Craftsman that you like keep it the new stuff is outsourced as well Ratchets have come a long way in the last few years I would get rid of all of the old ones Buy...

    taxes and your tools

I don't know what your situation is but if you have 1099 income this may work for you. My accountant takes them off as a business expense that way I take the standard deduction on my W2 income and deduct tools and such on the 1099 income. Like I said depends on your situation but it's probably...

Husky 32 inch Stainless Steel tool chest

Good thing Home Depot is an hour away for me or I would have one of these and nowhere to put it. Great find!

    Screwdriver organization??

Totally agree about hiding the nice stuff I keep all my Snap On stuff in my tool box and the Craftsman and Kobalt stuff on pegboard. I do wish there was a better way to keep stuff organized in the box. Here is what I have in the box.

    tool truck prices

This is the same scenario as the local hardware store Lowes / Home Depot with the added twist of no warehousing. It's a great way to save money but chances are if you go to your local guy and be nice, tell him you are going to pay cash and ask him if he can help you close the gap he will do a...

Time to sell USA Made Craftsman?

I have had the same thoughts myself I have quite a bit of Craftsman hardline that would almost pass for new. I always thought it was ok until the day my uncle gave me my first Snap On ratchet lol.

Polishing a turd. Cheap drill bits with Ti-N coating

Buy a set of these and you will never need another set. They will cost you $150 or so but they are worth it. http://www.irwin.com/tools/drill-bits/29-piece-titanium-metal-index-drill-bit-set

    Craftsman Disappointment

I think this needs to be revisited for the new members from time to time. It is very sad that the Craftsman name has been outsourced to the point it is almost all Chinese made. They may function the same but to me a China made tool is just not a USA made tool. I agree with everyone else with...

I have given up... We can't do it...

Re: I have given up... We cant do it... I find myself having that problem with a new pickup. I cant seem save much more in a year than to make up the difference in what they cost from one year to the next. With mine having 230k on the odometer it's probably about time to just sign on the X and...

What should I do with this Snap On wrench??

Depends on how many $ you spend on given Snap On truck, if you are a regular customer he might help you out and sneak it in with the rest of his returns. If you don't buy from him I wouldn't waste your time because he will probably just laugh and shake his head. Personally if it belonged to my...

    Proto Warranty

Yes, sadly all part of Stanley Proto, Blackhawk, and Mac. I have actually had pretty decent luck with sending stuff in to Mac even stuff that was worn out or abused they have replaced in the past. I haven't sent anything in about three years but today I sent a small box to proto and a large box...

    Mac tools warranty shipping time

I sent in a big box of stuff 24 pounds to be exact from several different people. I wonder how this is going to go. I did type it all up into a spread sheet so it wont be a complete nightmare for the poor soul that opens the box. I just hope I don't get a bunch of Stanley and China replacements.
