Crane attachment for pallet rack mezzanine?

I'm building a shop mez. from pallet rack uprights & beams. To save space (shop floor is only 300sqft) we scrapped the staircase for pull-down attic stairs. It's great at saving floor space but makes it difficult to bring large things upstairs...like my shop tables. With how common this...

How long can a gas line be from bottle to TIG?

Hmm, so provided there aren't any leaks the flow will remain the same from bottle to machine? Good to know, thanks!

How long can a gas line be from bottle to TIG?

Are there any issues with having a "remote" Argon bottle for my TIG that's about 12-15ft away? I figure I can plumb up a regulator at the machine itself to get an accurate flow reading. Is there another downside to this? Is it bad/wasteful to have that much gas "in the line" if I close valves...

New Rivet Hammers & Accessories - 1/2 off retail - Most USA made

Cleaning out my garage for a move and came across a box of new rivet hammers from a project with a previous employer. Everything here is either new or was used for a day to drive a few test rivets, so basically new. Guns don't have original packaging. May have some light scuffs from them all...

Decking / resurfacing large bandsaw table?

I don’t lap directly on the metal. I put down adhesive backed sandpaper and wet sand the gasket surfaces.

Decking / resurfacing large bandsaw table?

I agree, the hand scraping sounds like way too much work. I’m already planning to spend hundreds getting this bandsaw back into working condition and the added $220 it’s really putting it over the top. ..I suppose I could sell some lesser used tools/ machines but it always pains me so. Even...

Decking / resurfacing large bandsaw table?

Well the local quote I got to have it Blanchard ground was $220. More than I was hoping to spend. I’ll look into hand scraping. I’m not familiar with it. I know I can get a granite plate I’m just running out of places to put stuff like that in the shop. It would be nice to knock out two...

Decking / resurfacing large bandsaw table?

I just picked up an old Do-All bandsaw from the 40’s that spent some time outside. It’s got a big ole heavy cast iron table on it with some bad pitting from corrosion. I’ve knocked most of the rust back with wire brushing and phosphoric acid (metal prep & etch). I mostly work on motorcycles...

Measure TIG gas flow rate at bottle or torch?

It could be the cheap-o tester I'm using but I'll try to track down what's going on.

Measure TIG gas flow rate at bottle or torch?

I've been TIG welding for 6 years now and have always assumed the gas flow rate people talk about is measured at the gauge on the bottle. I just found my little glass tube style flow tester and thought.... have I been using the wrong flow rate this whole time? Should I be measuring at the torch...

Beverly throatless shear blade grinding/sharpening angle?

Does anyone know the sharpening angle of the blades on a Beverly throatless shear? Picked one up used that someone has sharpened incorrectly. The blades don't have an even interference so I want to get them back to what they're supposed to be. I've got some nice sharpening stones and a big...

Pro Auto Painters: Can you flow coat matte clear?

This one's for the pro auto painters out there. I'm working on a motorcycle paint job that will have multiple layers of color sealed in a matte clear coat. I want a ridge-free finish, i.e. so you cant feel the different layers of base coat. I've read to do this with gloss clear you do the...

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

Well after comparing all the red and green "800W tubing/pipe sander/polisher" listings on amazon and ebay I concluded they were all the same machine, regardless of their "brand." So I bought the cheapest one.... $142 shipped. Turns out I was right. It showed up in an unbranded box and without a...

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

Unfortunately I'm flying to this location so bringing them with isn't an option. They're getting dropped on site.

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

Oh I dig that and looks like somethign I could turn on the lathe pretty quickly. Are you using some kind of rubber wheel in the middle? Does it move length wise along the pipe smoothly?

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

Good idea for in-shop jobs. Unfortunately I'll be on site for this one, so portability is key.

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

Not yet, however I have to run much of it through a tubing roller which I'm anticipating will mark the tube a bit. How would you go about spinning a 13' x 1.5" OD tube?

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

That's the best reviewed one I've found. Was hoping to get some off-amazon reviews for it if anyone's tried it. Planning on using the scotchbrite belts with whatever machine I end up with. I saw those burnishers pop up. My assumption was they'd be more work than the belt style. I was...

Tools for sanding a bunch of stainless tube?

Man it'd be great if every time someone posted on here people didn't assume they were an idiot. I didn't ask for a business plan and project cost analysis. I also didn't ask for recommendations of the most expensive, pro grade machines on the market. I asked for feedback from people who have...
