2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

I haven't been to many sales this summer but here is one from late June, (which now seems so long ago). It was a family run event clearing out a lot of machinist tools. There were several tables of calipers, micrometers, and the like. Not the kind of stuff I regularly go for but it was still fun...

J H Williams vintage hand tools

Here are a few more pictures of the modified S-52 ratchet. The head looks to have been machined down and the selector is taller than some of the others I own.

J H Williams vintage hand tools

So, as I mentioned in the above post, I emailed Williams about the ratchet and got the following reply: "We have never made a ratchet with a light. I would be glad to send you a new S-52 ratchet if you would send me that one. Always like to see what our customers do to our product, and this...

J H Williams vintage hand tools

Picked up this Williams S-52 ratchet recently. It's a bit odd in that the handle has a push button switch for what I assume was a light that was mounted further up the handle near the head. Not sure what type of battery would have been used (AAA perhaps). My Google searches haven't turned up...

Koken is pretty good stuff , especially current production, I wouldn't be sending it to Goodwill.

I ate at the Poughkeepsie location so many times, they had 3rd restaurant in New Windsor NY too. Always great food. Sadly both locations are long gone, replaced by a Buffalo Wild Wings in Poughkeepsie & a hotel in New Windsor........progress.......I guess.

Late to the party (or at least late in posting) this ammo box I picked up in early March. I'm not very familiar with all the different types and I don't collect them but I will pick them up when in useable condition and reasonably priced. The web handle and locking mechanism sparked my interest...

2024 Garage Sale Thread (13th Annual)

Maybe the blades got bent/damaged by something being sucked in through the screen/guard. The pulsation may be from the blades not being "balanced" or slightly out of pitch with each other. I have the same fan that fell off a table causing the guard to deform and strike the blades. Had to bend...

First estate sale in 2024 for me last Friday. Pictures in the ad didn't show many tools but there was some golf equipment so I took the 15 minute ride to take a look. The neighborhood is higher end Toll Brothers homes (already sold for 850k) which are always nice to check out plus you never know...

I haven't been keeping up on the posts for a few weeks but finally got caught up yesterday. Lots of great & interesting stuff, as usual, plus the informative posts by many others that add so much to this thread. Thanks all. 3baygarage's haul in post #5801 deserves a 'you ****' for the (3) Snap...

No sales for me lately so I'll contribute this photo just to continue the trend. I have accumulated these doorknobs (25+) over the years with the intention of making some sort of entry way coat rack. Obviously I haven't gotten to it yet but it's on 'the list'. I like the idea of using a vintage...

My unofficial test with the ball side of a ball peen hammer reveals some rebound and a bit of a ring. Certainly doesn't have that classic blacksmiths anvil sound but I wouldn't call it a thud either. I will have to locate a decent ball bearing and give it the drop test. Also will test a few...

First sale for me today in probably 3 weeks. It was just by chance on my route running errands this morning. A family run estate sale with the typical mix of household stuff, furniture, kitchen ware and some tools. Prices were very reasonable. I picked through a very lightweight homeowner...
