Yes most all tools have usefulness, even cheap ones, I've used an old great neck ratchet almost everyday for atleast 5 years, probably installed close to 200 batteries with it plus many many headlight and tail light assembiles, used the side of it as a hammer, taken coils off control modules...

No I have never owned a really exPensive ratchet but i have used many cheap ones seeing as how i change probably 5-10 batteries a day and these feel very solid

Ok both of these are duralast 3/8 ratchets with the teardrop design. The one on the left is a single ratchet, it's a flex head though, only one I had in store today, the right one is a duralast 3/8 out of a socket set, supposed to be same part

Can also tell by the handle, there are 2-3 lines at the top and bottom of the handles, the cheap ones are smooth, the good ones contain texture in the middle

Yes u are correct, I checked the single ratchets are the good ones the set contains rebranded great neck, both stamped with the exact same part number

Yeah, I've had the great necks for years, right now theres a duralast set with the 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 ratchet and 6 and 12 pt socket sets for 49.99

Ok I eat crow, just disassembled both 3/8 drives and they are the same style but the duralast had a slightly bigger top gear and the bottom part of the duralast was at least 3 times bigger, guess I'm buying a set now

Lol they are identical, I've used them both

I was reading a post on here that said great neck ratchets were all china made junk but Taiwan duralast were great and all you can get great neck is the china, that's not necissarily true, great neck does have the nice ratchets as well
