OK...won't get into a war of words on source of IR but Athens is on the short list. As for quality that's for the user to decide. First genersation of 7750 turbo was not efficient but their 2.0 version is a killer on max torque ... no need for a 3/4" impact on Honda crank bolt if you own this...

Tuner ... try one. With a 60 day no questions asked return how can you go wrong. If it's a 1/2' you're looking for try the 2263XI composite

Marlin, Did work for CP and worked for IR as well ... do some consulting and importing now...just happen to be a bigger CP fan as many of my former IR colleagues are now at CP . Don't get me wrong...IR is a great brand but no one is #1 forever ... ask CP after ruling the world in the 70's and...

Lot's of commentary on Matco and IR ... does anyone realize that the majority of IR now comes from their plant in China? Snap-on Blue Point is not IR. And the "Nut Busting Torque" is marketing hype ... or should I say extreme overhype ... they attempted to explain in a recent product piece ...

Moose, agreed on 750 ...so why do the hype the torque rating to 1100 ...sets up false expectations and can't apply that much torque on run down...just calling out the issue of torque that most manufacturers "round up"

Tuckin, some suggestions ...how long is your air hose, what size hose, what size fittings? Your regulator may read 125 but if you are undersizing your system then there can be a signficant pressure drop by the time the air gets to the tool. Get a guage and measure the pressure at the tool with...

SK and Aircat are from Taiwan ... careful on service and parts availability. Don't see many CP fans on this site ... my box is loaded CP 7740 1/2", 7830 3/8" ratchet (only ratchet that will compete agains the SO at 1/2" the price, 734 1/2" impact (for back up).

Moose, Loss of torque can happen with any tool ... including impact wrenches...the longer the anvil the greater torque loss. So a 1/2" impact with a 2 inch anvil (most prominent in tire shops will not apply as much torque as a short anvil tool. Couple this with the flip socket on teh 2" anvil...

No worries on where PTR is ... they offer the fastest turnaround in the industry. If you're in the LA area try Fejes Tools if you don't want to ship to Akron. Fejes is an authroized service center for CP and IR

The company that was building the IR stuff is now owned by CP ... bought them after IR ditched their relationship and moved everything to China. The Mac gun is probably from SP Air who supplies guns to Mac. Parts for teh IR stuff can be purchased at Power Tool Repair in Akron ... the best air...

If you can affordf the long term investment step up to rotary technology ... 50% more but you can have it right on the shop floor ...cooler cleaner air, 3 times the life. Body shops are all over rotary as it produces pulse free air. The CP QRS series is the best product for shops

CP875 is the best choice for the money

Beware of IR .... they are now a Bermuda company to avoid US taxes and the majority of their line is from China ...very little from US or Japan...231, 244, 261, 285 etc.
