    Monoblock heat pumps

Here is what they have to say about it. I can see how in some very specific scenarios this could be useful, but agree 98% of the time something else would make more sense. Is the MRCOOL Monoblock a PTAC system? The MRCOOL Monoblock is similar to a traditional PTAC system in that it is a...

Quotes all over the place for a metal building. What am I missing?

What the heck, this popped up about third post down when I hit the what's new button and I didn't look at the dates. Sorry gentlemen, my bad.

Quotes all over the place for a metal building. What am I missing?

That seems kinda steep if everything is the same, we see a 25-30% of project General Contractor cost around here. So a DIY $29k project would be around $37-ish with a GC involved.

    Direct Tools sale

The "blemished" ones are always new, the refurbed ones are always trash though, don't get those.

    Goodwill Tool Finds

Goodwill is one of the worst "charity" companies around, only something like 3% of their cash actually goes to help people, the rest goes in to a bunch of rich CEOs pockets. I don't support them. Habitat stores are way better and actually help people, plus generally have more tools at much...

Bonding Neutral in sub panel confirmation

In theory and per code, but I've seen it done many times around here with the same setup.

Bonding Neutral in sub panel confirmation

They might be treating the first panel as just an emergency disconnect, in which case they could just have three wires going to the sub panel.

    Weedeater line

I use a piece of steel braided line from inside a motorcycle throttle cable. It has slowly started unwinding at the end which makes it work even better. Been using the same one for at least 15 years. Makes a cool whizzing noise. Just don't hit anything you like with it. It will also launch a...

    Mr. Cool 36K wall brackets

After running mine on the wall I would advise using a pad and one of the tall legged mounts to keep it up a foot or so. Mine is super quiet but sometimes vibrates the whole wall and anything touching it, like all the metal cabinets I have on that wall.

    Scrap pile rescues

I get some cool stuff from our recycle centers metal bin, also from the metal pile at the dump. In the last couple years I've gotten a nice little Yamaha inverter generator that just needed the carb gone through, 3 smokers that just needed cleaned up, a couple lawnmowers, a snow blower, a...

Replacing a Micro-USB Charger Port? Altec Lansing Jacket H2O IMW448N-BLK-WM

The leads are individually soldered. To remove you can just flood all of them at once, easiest way if you don't have a lot of experience. They will need soldered back one at a time. If you have a desoldering gun with the bulb it would help with the four mechanical attachment legs, but you...

Replacing a Micro-USB Charger Port? Altec Lansing Jacket H2O IMW448N-BLK-WM

You are going to need to wick the solder out of the four mounting holes and get each leg completely free one at a time, then you can flood the leads (wipers) with one blob and lift it off. Then solder wick everything, clean with alcohol, and solder your new one in. I use a hot air soldering...

    Ceiling Fan Shop?

I just have a inexpensive 58" one in my 24x36 shop and it makes a big difference. Especially when I finally remember to switch directions on it every spring/fall so it moves the hot air the right way.

Hard Start vs Soft Start-Help me understand better?

You should not have needed a hard start kit unless something was wrong. Those are typically only used as a short term bandage for something like a really old compressor that needs more power to get it going. Unless somehow the overcharge damaged yours in a way the hard start compensated for, I...

Dented water main line on street side

We freeze a lot during remodels where we are installing new fixtures, dozens of sightly changing pipe layouts and adding extensions to live pipes. Or often during emergency repairs. We don't usually need to add another valve/weak point, but if we do a normal one is easy to install with the pipe...

Dented water main line on street side

My brother has one of the CO2 freeze setups and we used it all over an apartment building remodel, was awesome. For some reason none of the plumbers around here have them, they were super jealous of it. We also did a couple of broken buried pipes in a trailer court, about six foot down. Was...
