    Stolen Tools

Bastards hit our quiet neighborhood this week. Contractor building the house next door, they unbolted the hasp on their trailer & got all their tools. Got my weed Wacker, chainsaw, hardware for my tractor snow blower attachment ( winch & brackets), gas can, & starting fluid. Another neighbor...

    Getting rid of a pool

Dig it up and deliver it to my house. I'll give it a home. In my old house I put in a liner pool - $28k. there is no way I'd fill it in in 7 years. I can't afford a pool at my new house...

My car had a header stud missing. After further inspection, I saw that it's broken in halfway

Aluminum heads? Use a wire feed welder and a nut. Build the weld until on the remainder of the broken fastener until you can weld to the inside of the nut. Carefully try to crank it out. This is the common method for Ford modular motor broken exhaust manifold stud extraction.

    propane heat...be careful

It's my tank and my gas....paid in full. Nothing in the contract, regarding locking or unlocking the tank. The contract states the title "Seller shall transfer to Buyer title and risk of loss to the Equipment, as evidenced by a Bill of Sale in the form attached hereto to be executed by Seller's...

    propane heat...be careful

Because there was no "appliance" available when the tank was dropped in the ground and filled, "for safety reasons" they could not install the regulators and test them. "For my safety", they placed the lock on the tank. When I argued about the regulators being mine, they said "yes they are...

    propane heat...be careful

When I was building the house, I put in a propane tank for a future generator (I don't have yet), Suburban was the only one who could provide the tank in the time frame needed. They were going to charge me $300 for the extra length of copper they left (I returned & got that straightened out)...

    Water softener salt level?

If I am not mistaken, the salt does not soften your water. The salt is used to clean the membrane in the system. This membrane holds the minerals, thus softening the water supply. There should be minimal, if any, salt going into your drinking water.

    Building CONTRACTOR changes designs

First thing you need to do is review the contract. If all your original design, costs, ets. are on that contract and you did not approve a change order, they cannot deviate. If there is no contract in place, it is time to hire a new contractor. If there is no contract, I hope you did not give...

    Water Softeners

My new house (2900 sq ft house 2.5 bath) is on a well and I purchased the largest GE Softener ($800 unit I got for around $500). It seems to work better than the $3000 Ionics System (Fleck Head?) I bought for my last house (municipal water, 1600 sq ft house 2.5 bath). House has 2 adults & 2...

    Tipping my Builders

When my house was being built, a few times a week I'd bring donuts, cookies, occasionally a few pizza's, etc....just like I do when I'm on a work site for my job. Happy workers are good workers.....

    AC no workie!

Make sure you note the conductor markings. If you have space, move 1 terminal at a time from old to new. Use insulated pliers.

Kitchen cabinets, brand name/big box or custom made?

We just had a custom ranch built (2900 sq ft). Our builder used custom built cabinets. He said there wasn't much difference in the cost vs box store cabinets & the quality is much higher. Our bathroom vanities were also custom made by the same shop. All our cabinets and drawers have the soft...

    Basement flooring options.

We used the 'Subflor' product in our basement. It's a 2'x2' plywood T&G with a ribbed plastic on the bottom (to allow airflow). I laid this product & had Lowe's do the carpet & vinyl. Big temperature difference over carpet/vinyl/tile directly on the concrete.
