    Truck's shop build

I ran a set of 2x4s horizontally from the front to the back. These are 4' apart and start 4' from the floor. I'm going to put pegboard along that run. Below that to the floor I may put some plywood or osb just to have a smooth look up to 8' high. Above the pegboard I have about 36" before...

    Truck's shop build

I've been trying to figure out how I was going to run the electrical lines for the outlets, water heater, washer/dryer, air compressor, lift etc, becuase I didn't want to put any more holes in the building for bolts. So I came up with an idea to remove a set of bolts where the shoulder (curve...

    Truck's shop build

Actually in between finishing the lights the boys & I put up the loft over the bathroom and workbench area. It is much lower then the other side because I didn't have to go over the garage door. It gives a lot of room up there. About 25' across by 12' deep when you total both of them. Now I...

    Truck's shop build

I spent a whole lot of time on the lights. The just seemed to take awhile, plus I really didn't like being that high on the scaffold. I had a friends come over and help a little which was a life saver because there were times I had had enough up there with both hands over my head lifting a...

    Truck's shop build

A friend made a suggestion to use a pocket door to save space. I though this was a great idea. So I bought a pocket door kit and I think it will turn out well. I also finally put up the cross braces on the garage door - I got tired of tripping over them. Finally there is a white haired...

    Truck's shop build

It has been awhile since I updated with pictures. In late July, I got back to working on the shop. As previously stated I filled all of the outside 'holes' of the corrogated building with cement as per building instructions. I also spent a good deal of time researching how to do the...

    Electric wiring question

Here is a picture of what it has to go in/on. Need to run from service panel (visible in the very front of pic) up to the 2x8 and down nearly the entire length of shop and across to and down the middle wall separating the higher loft from lower loft (that is the plumbing and electric wall for...

    Electric wiring question

I'm using conduit because it is in a steel building, therefor no studs to run it through and it has to be "protected" from damage. I also don't need that many ground wires - seemed to be a waste. Truck

    Electric wiring question

Okay, although the comments on the water heater are interesting. (I'm using the water heater because I already have it.) It still doesn't answer my conduit question which was the reason for the post. Truck

    Electric wiring question

Okay fellas, here are some more details on the water heater it is a Seisco model RA-28. here is their web site: http://www.seisco.com/pages/electrical-requirements.html Below is a copy & paste from their site with a couple of diagrams. After re-reading it states #8 AWG vs #10. So with this...

    Electric wiring question

Charles, Yes water heater is 240v. It requires 4 double pole 30A CB. didn't realize the dryer needed 4 wires as the plug only had 3 prongs. What do you suggest as conduit or wire? I haven't bought either yet. Truck

    Electric wiring question

I'm wiring the shop and need to wire the on-demand water heater (4 30A circuits) and the dryer (1 30A circuit). The run is about 60 ft from the service panel. Plan on using 10Ga THHN. That is 5 Black, 5 White and 1 ground (figure that can be common between the water heater and the dryer). I...

    Building a storage shed

depends on where you live. There is going to be snow weight on the roof, I don't think that would be strong enough. If snow is not a factor and all they are holding is the sheet metal then it would be fine. Truck
