    M18 string trimmer observations

I went with the Milwaukee trimmer because I've got plenty of batteries and other tools. It also came with a blower, so it was a pretty good deal. Milwaukee tools carry 5 yr warranty where stihl is two, I think, so for the price of things, it's a lot better deal.

    Gravel base

Take that jar of marbles, tamp them then turn the jar over, they'll fall out. Try it with a bucket of 57's, they'll fall out too. That's why road beds aren't built out of washed stone. It's used to bed drainage, water lines etc. You put it around basement walls to relieve the pressure of shifting...

    Gravel base

Washed stone will not compact, it's physically impossible. Hell, it's hard enough to get 93% out of good asphalt on the highway, beatin' on it with five rollers!

Dewalt: New batteries, trash and go Makita?

I've got the Dewalt 20 to 18 adapters and even though they work fine, the battery will deplete if left attached and not used. I bought a couple adapters from Amazon that use Dewalt or Milwaukee batteries in 18v Dewalt and they work just fine. Mike
