    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ron's Wreck Room Build

thanks, I am loving it. It is so nice to have room to move, as opposed to everything you see in it now crammed into a 2 car garage where one side has to have room for the wifes car.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ron's Wreck Room Build

Sorry Dave, I didn't see you replied... One of my biggest complaints is that they put the man doors in to swing out. I don't hover contractors that I hire, but this is one that I wish I had been there to have them do different. I even considered flipping them after the fact, but didn't. Also...

    Material for Workbench Top

I used oak flooring. I didn't finish it, other than danish oil. I can just sand it back down if I decide to have it look like new again. But, I also have a metal top bench for welding. So depending on your use, you may want a metal top.

    What to call your haven?

The Grand Garage. Since everything I do to it, or in it cost me another grand.

Best thing you ever made in your garage

The best thing? Well, the thing I use the most is a 2" receiver in the floor. The thing(s) that I consider the most worthwhile is anything I've made for my grandkids.

Bad oil stains on garage floor

I agree with the cat litter. Grind it in with your foot and broom it around. Might still see a little halo where the oil was, but it pulls most of it out of the concrete. Just make sure you put it in the garbage when done and not just out in the driveway. You will be tracking clay in for weeks.

    WiFi Extenders

I have a detached that is about 60' from the house. I could get wifi but it was weak and sometimes would kick me off. Bought a $30 extender from Amazon, plugged it in the garage (into the outlet closest to the house) and it works great.

    Ideas for retaining wall

Like has been said, it kinda depends on how much you want to spend up front as opposed to rebuild later. I built with used railroad ties, about 12 years ago and they are still good as the day we put them in, but I don't expect them to last forever. I'm sure a poured wall would last longer, but...

    DIY RaceRamps/Wheel Cribs?

Thanks all. I've seen the 2x4 cribbing, but thought it might be bulky to store. I am considering something metal that can be stacked like lawn chairs.

    DIY RaceRamps/Wheel Cribs?

I've been looking at the Wheel Cribs (Race Ramps) and wondering if anyone has come up with something that they have made from stuff laying around the garage. I've been doing some body work on the truck and it would be nice to have it even 10"-12" lift. I have jackstands, but thought the wheel...

Insurance company. Never heard this one

We see these type of stories with insurance claims on here form time to time and everytime I thank my luck that we have the insurance we do. I've had to file a claim 3 different times with my homeowners insurance and they have gone above and beyond what I expected to make everything right. They...

    4500/8510 vs. Ts210

I don't think epoxy is for me. I have only been in my garage since July (?) and I already have a bunch of marks on the floor from slag and sparks. I don't drag much that would scratch it, but whatever I do will have to either be somewhat good for welding or at least fairly easy to repair from...

    4500/8510 vs. Ts210

I'm in on this. I'm under the impression that putting anything on the ghostshield is a bad idea and won't adhere properly? I have about the same opinion of the GS as purediesel. I don't hate it, but it doesn't do what I expected (incorrectly expected by the sounds of it)

    Shop fans

I bought a couple of hampton bay 52" ceiling fans for my 30x48x12 and have been happy with them. All winter they have been on low and it definitely makes a difference with the heat.

So My Wife Asked The Unthinkable....

My wife went through a period of asking "what is this one for" or "whats the difference between this one and that one" She has since figured out that everything has a purposed. My brother-in-law on the other hand... "do you have enough saws?" then I explained what each one was for, and he just...

The Furnace Is On The Wall

I think that there are just a higher percentage of assholes on this site than most. Not pointing the finger at anyone in this thread, just making a general comment. And I belong to a lot of forums...this on is as bad as they come.

Squirrel cage blower rpm. Check my math.

It is just sitting in the ope at the moment. I know it will blow more with a little restriction. I am just comparing it to what my 8" does sitting in the open. Just seems like it doesnt blow any more than the 8". I will be builda housing for it shortly, but wanted to make sure it is turning the...

Squirrel cage blower rpm. Check my math.

I'm not sure i understand this statement...not saying that you're wrong. I would think that the rpm of the motor would dictate the amount of air you move. Assuming the motor has enough hp to turn the wheel at the rpm that the motor is rated for. Matbe the motor isn't reaching the max rpm, but...

Squirrel cage blower rpm. Check my math.

So i just picked up a used blower and it doesnt seem to put out the air that i think it should. It is a 12" wheel (with no markings or labels) and from what i can tell, 1550rpm is pretty standard for that size. It has a 1/6hp, 1725 rpm motor on it. A 2 1/2" pully on the motor and 8" on the...

    Amerigas Delivery Issues

I'm not sure I understand the want of a large tank. My provider has a mandatory annual fill, and will fill anytime without an extra fee. If they want to put a 100gal tank and fill it up monthly, why would I care? Takes up a lot less space than a 500gal tank. And like others have...
