    Moto race shop remodel

Here's a quick update: Since the last update I was able to make shims for the cabinets. They will make them easier to screw into the walls and allow for a deeper counter top: I then took the cabinets apart to fix them. I also built one to fit the parts washer and beer fridge in ...

    Electric heat

http://us.stelpro.com/web_items/web_att_details.asp?attid=V%C2%B6%C2%B5%C2%A4%E2%80%A0%2Ftqmw This is IMO the best electric way to heat a garage. The fan recirculates the warm air near the ceiling so the rooms gets warm pretty quickly. I have a 5000W model in my 22x26 garage and it works very...

    Condensation on insulation, open rafters

You need air between the fiberglass and the roof, and there needs to be plenty of ventilation to allow that air to exchange and evacuate humidity. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems pretty common in the US from what I've seen to just put kraft-backed insulation between the joists. Up here in Canada...

    Moto race shop remodel

Each jump had a name and a difficulty and risk level. The Logan was right before the mythical 110, named after it's nominal length (was actually about 85 feet long). It had a high risk level, but it was actually pretty easy to clear once you mastered the Logan.

Things ended well and I was able to have my paint can replaced. I was able to get the paint done today. Color match check. Close enough. The match looks better in person actually. I brought the cabinets up from the basement and put them in place to check fitment. As you can see in the...

Concrete drying time / fan question

24 hours before walking on it, at least a few days to a week before moving heavy stuff in. FYI, concrete doesn't "dry" per se, it cures. Which means that the water reacts chemically with the cement to form solid material. Once it starts setting, you want it to stay in a moist environment for as...

    Moto race shop remodel

I realized it's been a while since I posted an update, so here it goes. The foundation wall was not sitting flush with the gypsum board, so I had to build some kind of baseboard to hide it. We used thermofoil to insulate the concrete a bit while we were at it. There was some frost in one...

    What's the NUMBER 1 tool you'd recommend?

A cordless impact driver is a pretty versatile tool that I am glad to own. But for wrenching on motorcycles, I couldn't live without my T-handles

How long for concrete to cure?

As I was reading the answers and thinking of what to write, I came across this answer. I say +1 on the embedded anchors. Easier, faster and cheaper. Having cylinders done on site for testing would allow you to determine when is the right time to start using your lift. If not, wait at least 28...

Road salt and the garage floor

+1 on plain water. Soak the concrete and wipe with a squeedgee until it's all gone. Then use some kind of sealer or coating to protect your floor from future damage.

    Maximizing every height and corner

I am currently working on my garage. I will be using the corner on one side of the garage door to hang a TV and other things on the walls. The other corner has a man door, and the other wall portion will also be used for hanging stuff such as a weed eater. I have seen a few threads here where...

    condensation?

It is most likely the air moisture condensing when you turn the unit off, then dropping when you turn it on again.

Got my parts washer yesterday. I thought the brush came with it, but I was wrong. So I have that on order now. Drywall joints will not be finished until around Tuesday, so it will be another 2 weeks before I get to start painting. I'll work on my parts washer cabinet in the meantime.

If you have used Rocksolid, give me your opinion and pics. Newbie needs help!!

I have had the Rock Solid polyurea done to my garage floor 3 years ago. The Canadian distributor told me he did not sell the DIY kits because they were not as foolproof as he would like them to be. So I had them do the job for me. It was a one day affair. 3 years later it still looks great. The...

I also plan on doing up a human silhouette with white electrical tape with splashes of reddish brown paint on the basement floor before putting up the wood. Should be pretty funny. What year YZ did you get? they're great bikes. Very reliable and fast. Drywall is going on as we speak. They've...

    Moto race shop remodel

After 3 days of cleaning and re-organizing, I finally got to get the place empty. The drywall is coming in tomorrow. I left a little surprise for the next owner to remove the drywall A view of the garage basement. If you're wondering how much stuff I own, this is about half of it stacked...
