The number of the coating is P3684 for the catalyst and P3673 for the epoxy. They are mixed 1:1. I'm glad the assessor put a low value on the building - that keeps my property taxes low. I agree with you, one can never have too much storage space for cars, tractors, boats, RV's, etc! CZ

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. I've had cars in storage for years and this let's me get everything at home and accessible when we want to go for a cruise. I will do the electrical, plumbing, insulation, toilet/sink, and walls in a few years when my budget recovers. This build is in...

Thanks. It was exhausting work but worth the end result. The paint has not pulled up in my shop and it's been painted since mid 1998. I think as long as the surface is prepped to give the paint the 'bite' it needs, it will stay put. CZ

It's been a while since my last post. I decided that I would paint the floor before moving any cars in. This sounds easier than is it. This floor is huge and I don't have the budget to hire this done so I did it myself. Cleaning up the junk that migrated to the barn for the winter took one...

Here's a recent photo showing the top panel installed in the 14' door. The patio area showing the liner panel in the ceiling. The three south facing doors move up along the wall. All opened up. I hope to borrow a small tractor with a bucket on it in the next several weeks so I can...

Hey Breeze, sorry if I would just READ a little further on my assessment notice, it says the change in taxable value will increase my 2011 tax bill by approximately $109. Sheesh, and I thought I had high taxes, $47 per thousand? Yikes. I paid $2733.65 in 2010. That would be $4300 in your...

Airplane? LOL!!! Funny you guys mention that. Just up the road a guy has a Morton pole barn and he has a home built airplane and a grass runway on his property. His next door neighbor is his brother with a Morton pole barn and has hotrod cars, maybe 3 old Corvettes and one C6 Vette. I know...

Hey GunCollector, not personal at all. I'm glad to share. My budget was $85,000 and needless to say, I went over. If I end up needing a driveway, I just might consider that because using brick pavers may be less of a hit to my property tax since it's not a permanent improvement. I'm sure those bricks are not cheap though. CZ

I'm not planning on putting in a dedicated driveway. I can drive around both ends of the house to get to either barn. My ground here is really sandy and drains well and I have not had a problem with mud or ruts in the yard. At the hottest part of the summer if we don't receive much rain, the...

Thanks guys. The decision to build was not taken lightly hence the reason we started in October vs earlier in the year. It's a significant amount of money and my family is trying to get out of debt. There was a lot of debate and praying about the path to take. It made no sense to continue to...

I really didn't dig into the building codes but I think I'm not allowed to have any living space in the barn. I would have to check it out to know for sure. It would be nice but I'm going to focus on getting my basement cleaned up and finished into usable space. I have a poured concrete wall...

12/11/10 Winter arrives. I must have lost some photos along the way because this is the next group of photos that I had since the last post. In these photos, just about everything is done except for some white trim and one panel of the 12'x14' door was damaged and we had to order a...

11/17/2010 We're getting closer all the time now. I took these photos at lunchtime. From the 1986 movie "The Money Pit" staring Tom Hanks... "Stairs! Ha! A Staircase! We have stairs!" Under the stairs is my planned location of a toilet and sink. I had the pipe for the toilet and sink...

11/15 and 11/16/2010 The garage doors have started to go up and more siding is being installed. The days are really getting short now. I guess it's time for the garage door discussion. The barn has 7 garage doors. That sounds crazy but here's the story. When I built my 40'x64' barn, I used...

Thanks Tbird. The excavator removed all of the top soil from the area and replaced it with sand. He had to go down about 8-12". The area where the barn is sitting is all sand below the top soil, no clay or stone. No gravel was used, just sand. The earlier photo shows the holes for the posts...

Hey Boots, A friend and I actually talked about adding a chain and pulley and a trap door in the floor so the heavy stuff could be hoisted upstairs. But the truss builder said that if it couldn't be carried upstairs, it shouldn't be upstairs. So I guess my engine stash will have to stay put...

BEAVO, Parts, parts, and more parts are going upstairs. Plus all the junk from the basement of my house like Christmas decorations, stuff for a future garage sale, and some family hand-me-downs that we need to incorporate into our house. Our basement is only semi-finished with just a laundry...
