    recommendations on wall packs...

Hey guys, I've recently built my shop, and working on it as time and money (the money part is the *****) allow. I've been following the "best light" thread, and pulled the trigger on the Diva fixtures not long ago. Still waiting on a bulb deal to come along... Anyway... I want to put a wall...

    What would you change?

I have a 16" soffit all around the building. In hindsight, I should have poured a 3ft walkway all around the building. the dripline off the roof gets the sides muddy/splattered when it rains. Also, I should have budgeted in doing a nice floor epoxy BEFORE I started filling it up. It would be...

hints, tips and suggestions for a retaining wall..?

The highest part will be 4ft. good to know that pins aren't needed, and are a pain, as noted by Hot Rod Grandpa. A GOOD heavy block is what I need, but I have yet to locate a local source for them. I plan on only doing this project once. I've read a good base of sand, and to place angular...

hints, tips and suggestions for a retaining wall..?

Hey guys, I built a shop recently on a downhill slope. I'll need to put in a small retaining wall, which I've never done. Aside form the obvious, is there any hints, tricks, tips or suggestions that you've come across in erecting one? I would like to locate a block that locks in place with...

Need advice\opinion on work not completed but still invoiced

Completely agree. He wouldn't see a dime, nor would he be allowed back on my property. Some hack like this won't bother or put in the effort to take you to court if they couldn't take the effort to do the job.

Excavation cost...never had to do dirt work, does this sound reasonable?

I charge my trackhoe and operator out at $145/hr, with a $500 mob/demob fee. I would say you got a good price.

Need advice\opinion on work not completed but still invoiced

Tell him to piss up a rope. If he shows back up on your property, call the cops for trespassing. Contractors like this are what gives us all a bad name. ETA: Please tell me you didn't give him any money up front...

curiosity- Concrete posts/columns instead of wood???

I came to this crossroads early on when I was planning my shop. My conclusion? I won't be around in 50 years to have to deal with it. Pole barn it is.

Newbie seeks advice: What would you do different if building again?

Just finished building a 30x50x12. I'm pretty happy with everything, but I wished I would have poured a 3ft walkway around the entire building. when it rains, I'm getting quite a bit of mud splattered up on the walls and doors. I will eventually do seamless guttering on it, but would still...

    RapidAir system

Probably a dumb question, but I've been looking at doing the same... Seems the 3/4" line is what most people are using, but if my compressor has a 1/2" outlet, do I need to change that out or is there a 1/2" to 3/4" fitting? Again, very early stages, so just trying to plan things out..

    String Trimmer Finally Died

I've had an Echo for about 5 years now.. It's getting a little finnicky... When she finally dies, or I take a hammer to it, I'll probably go with a Stihl.

ANOTHER Mr Cool DIY mini split install

I'm looking at doing this as well... from what limited research I've done, it appears all the Mr. Cool units have 25ft of line.. can you confirm? I won't need near that much line, and will only need approx 10ft. But, if 25ft is standard, do you see any reason why I couldn't run the excess up...
