My Wilton vise resto - a newbie takes on a project

Now that you have it apart, you might give it another bath to remove the rust on the inside of the vise. Congrats on getting it freed up though! It's rewarding to get a vise back to working condition. The hardest part is now behind you.

Finally got an SK 3870/DT 80 kits

I have better luck using the DT in used ratchets. In new ones the back drag is higher. I have 6 DT kits so you could say I like them. I never have tried a DT120 because the 1/4" ratchet is already great. The DT80 works perfect in the 3870 and any 3/8 that's longer. I have them in a 45170 but...

    Digital vs Mechanical TW

I have 5 different kinds of TW, clicker, split beam, beam, torqometer and digital. I use Techangle mostly when rebuilding engines. It's really handy for TTY bolts and longer my other 1/2" TW so it takes less effort. If I'm just torqing tires I grab my clicker because that's close enough. If...

    Metric Crowfoot Set

I picked up a set of Snap-on flare crowfeet a few weeks ago off FB marketplace for $100. Before that I had a SK 19mm flare and a 19mm (most common size I use) KD open end. If I need additional sizes I had the cheap set of HF. They never rounded off a bolt but they were bulky and usually a last...

Whats going on with sk tools.?

I think SK's former owner were terrible at picking who their customers were suppose to be. They didn't target professionals enough, they weren't that popular on the industrial side where 3/4" and up drive are common and too expensive for many homeowners. They seemed to try to go after government...

Whats going on with sk tools.?

Removing a twirl or two from the spring will solve the selector switch from binding up. The spring puts too much pressure on the pawl and makes it difficult to reverse the switch.

Whats going on with sk tools.?

I'm not your bro. I gave my opinion which is based on my experience and even told what I believe were short comings of the ratchet. Unless you have experience you're opinion means absolutely nothing.

Whats going on with sk tools.?

You literally gave your opinion on a ratchet you never have used. Don't you have an old thread to resurrect and add nothing of value?

Whats going on with sk tools.?

If you never have handle one then you have zero experience and your opinion isn't worth much. I have them in all 3 drive sizes and like them all. The 3/8" took a minor modification (which I do believe shouldn't be needed with a new ratchet) but it's one of my go to ratchets. I have a 24" flex...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I really want to find a big old vise and mount on my welding table (which is project I haven't started yet). I have a 4" and 4.5" mounted on my bench and they work great for daily use.
