Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

There is no way to get a side shot of the failure. And I do understand your point about the rarity but I have read more stories about HF failing than others. Because of that it has made me uncomfortable using them, this event reinforces it. I have nothing against HF I have quite a few tools...

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

And that makes it cool to call people idiots because of there views and possible lack of experience? FFS it hasn't even been 48 hrs yet and I am still responding to questions. I do have a life that is outside of this place... Here are the photos. First one is of the one that still works as...

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

Nice. I am willing to substantiate it and work on understanding why the failure happened, could it have been operator error? Possibly but I have safely supported multiple vehicles over the years doing the same way I did this lift. I am busy and have a life outside of here that take some time to...

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

It's not a massive bend, I think it possibly got tweaked and bent out of tolerance just enough to cause a problem. Again once I have a chance to get to them I will post pictures, I might even pull it apart as well as the other one that came as the set and see if there is any difference. All I...

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

Sorry I'm switching to overnights at work and I forgot about this thread. I don't have pictures and will take some to show it and maybe someone with more knowledge can figure out what is going on. When I placed the stand under the car it worked as normal pulled the post up and it sat back...

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

I credit that to the folks here on GJ. Ever since reading the posts about the stands failing I have doubled up both of them and either left my jack up or grabbed a bottle jack to go up as well. Needless to say having the car shift like that was not the most enjoyable experience.

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

So I've been using Harbor freight jack stands for a while never thought anything of it till I joined here and read the stories. Upgrading has been put off because I only need them for pulling wheels off and work from the outside. Because of the reports here I won't crawl under the vehicle and...

Tiny jumper, 5 star rated, $36

I used the jumper for the first time today, the first attempt didn't go so well the car battery was gone, no dash lights nothing turned on at all (just bought it non running) it would crank the starter a couple times for a few seconds but nothing substantial. Put the battery charger on the car...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Garage Refurb®

I probably spend $50-75 a year using my torpedo heater and that's only when I absolutely need to do something in the garage. No extra projects get done for me during the winter. A better stove is going to happen soon hopefully
