Does anyone use these for garage lighting? I have flourecents (industrial 8 ') but they are kind of dim when it is cold out. I was thinking of sulementing them with some halogens, they come on instantly and are bright. Any thoughts or alternatives?

IMO those 110 volt welders are junk, I had one and got rid of it. You will be much happier with a 220 model.
