Bearing might still be available, but they might not. You'll find the answers at owwm.org I bet. That's where I usually go with these sorts of problems.

    circular saw gear grease

I just cleaned up my old circular saw and used regular ol' wheel bearing grease. I doubt it matters much.

How do I get this label off?

Well, I managed to get them out by cutting a slot in the top with a Dremel and then used a screwdriver to back them out. Now I just need to find replacements. McMaster has them for only $3, but do I really need a box of 100?

How do I get this label off?

Normally I would mask it off and paint around it, but this label doens't sit flat against the motor body. So it needs to be removed so I can bend it back to shape. I tried to grab the rivets with a pair of dikes, but I can't get them to bite. The rivets seem to be hardened. Would McMaster be...

How do I get this label off?

I've recently acquired an old Baldor bench grinder that's in dire need of new paint. I want to get the label off of it before I paint, but I can't figure out how to do it. I've heard that some people slot the rivets with a dremel and then back them out with a screwdriver, but I usually like to...

Sorry for the thread hijack, but my Athol 614 also appears to have smooth jaws.

    Rebuild or Replace?

I love old tools. Even if it costs me a little more to fix it up, I usually wind up with a better tool, and I've avoided adding something to the landfill. It's a win-win.

Old ROYAL Drill press on craig's, floor model

Canedy Otto made good stuff, but I agree that $300 is too high. I'd also be wary that it appears to be disassembled. You have to wonder why the owner took it apart. Is something broken?

No, the nut is amongst the missing as well. I think that will be hardest part of the fabrication.

    Canedy Otto vise help

The jaws are just a hair over 3" wide. Sorry I omitted the obligatory soda can in my pictures. I didn't have one handy. :) You can get acme threaded rod from places like McMaster-Carr, so it really wouldn't be all that much work to make up a screw/handle assembly. Perhaps I'll put some...

Who made this drill press vise?

I grabbed this one for $5 today. I was wondering if anybody knows who made it. It looks like there used to be a logo, but it was scraped off when somebody used the vise to cut something with a band saw. I'm thinking it MIGHT be a Craftsman logo. Any thoughts?

    Canedy Otto vise help

I picked up this partial Canedy Otto vise this afternoon. However, it's missing the screw/nut/handle. It shouldn't be too hard to make something that will work, but I thought that maybe one of the vise collectors on this forum might have some spare parts. So, how about it? Anybody got a...

Also, do you suppose the green is the original paint? I suspect it isn't original since it's on the slide. Maybe the blue is original?

    New to me Athol vise

I picked up this old Athol machinists vise yesterday for $15. It's seen some use, but it's all there and there are no cracks that I could see. It'll definitely be a good user when I get it all cleaned up. Can any of you vise gurus educate me on the Athol vise? I remember they merged with...
