Dear Sears (5 years from now)

Re: Dear Sears(5 years from now) I do my best to buy American made every chance I get. Unfortunately, I don't often have a choice. I like to support my local shops and businesses as well. That being said, I don't have a problem buying something made in another country, as long as that...

I've been needing a new set of crimpers so that I can put ends on antenna cables and to build some tv cables. I have been casually browsing, but not trying real hard to buy any. Today, I walked into a Ollie's Bargain Outlet to browse around and ended up coming out with these. Ideal...

    it's 2013 garage sale season!...

I know they were still in business as of a few years ago. I bought a Plumb finish claw hammer, I believe at Sears, back in 2008 or 2009. I have a few other Plumb hammers as well.

    "Antique" Craftsman Cordless Drill $2,500.00

If his Craftsman is worth that much, I have a few old DeWalts from the 90's and early 2000s that must be worth a fortune! All along I thought they were fairly worthless these days.... didn't realize a battery powered drill was already in antique territory.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Yesterday, I put new pads and rotors on the front of the Silverado. Technically, not in my garage, but at the fire department. 104k miles and it was the first time I had to put new pads on the truck. That's definitely a first for me. I could have...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Nice. I've seen many roadsigns in garages/shops, and in fact have a few in my own. You are, however, the first person I've ever encountered that paid for one  At least, paid for it directly and not through state/fed taxes. :lol_hitti

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Yeah  I see what you're saying. However, in my case, I'm using the product as it is made, for its intended purpose, in the environment it was intended to be used. I can't help it that Whelen didn't think to seal up their connectors and that GM left their wheel wells open. :lol_hitti...

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Like I said, I planned on getting them until I saw them in person. Not at all worth the money. If I could get a set for ~$50, I'd consider it. The truck won't be around long enough to worry about it anyway. Besides... I really should fix the bed/taillight before worrying about the wheel well...

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Thanks, I'll look into that as well. Yeah, we have those in our brush/utility truck. They still don't have NEAR the warning power of the strobes, but can be effective nonetheless. I'd rather not drill holes anymore. Once this truck is gone, I'll probably stick with all surface...

Tech just starting out at a dealer

A lot of truth in this thread... Acknowledging your mistakes and wanting to correct them and keep from repeating them is a big deal. A lot of the techs I know don't care, they're just in it for a paycheck. I am about 90% self taught (I don't do it for a living though, however I have worked in...

Is there a shrink tube for this?

But then I'll have strobes that work and a truck that doesn't! :dunno: :p I've actually grown quite fond of the interiors and exteriors of the F150s. I'd LOVE a white platinum edition crew cab with black leather. I just can't get myself to love the powerplants in the F150s though...

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Thanks for the offer! And thanks again to everyone who has offered advice. I'm going to think on it for a bit and try to make my decision. The weather pacs are looking pretty good about now, but I change my mind every 5 minutes :lol_hitti

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Yep... I was going to get some, then saw them installed and was NOT impressed. Oh well. My plan is to pick up a 2015 next year, so hopefully they improve the design by then (but I won't hold my breath).

Is there a shrink tube for this?

Thanks for all of the great responses everyone. I've done more installs than I care to count, but my truck is the only 07+ GM I've installed on. Everything else has been pretty straightforward without any real "special" treatment. I'll weigh my options and decide what to do. I put my trailer...

Is there a shrink tube for this?

I've thought about the weather pac's, but was trying to avoid it, as I will only keep this truck another year or so, and didn't want to put any more money into this system if it costs more than a roll of tape  Once the bulbs go out, I'll sell the power unit. They provide FANTASTIC warning...

Is there a shrink tube for this?

In my truck, I have a 90w 6 head Whelen hideaway strobe system. I've had the same system in 4 different vehicles and never had a problem. However, on my 09 Silverado, the connectors going to the taillights get filled with mud/moisture due to GM deciding these trucks don't need closed in wheel...

    Show your flashlights!

I have more flashlights than I can keep track of. The only thing I may buy more often than flashlights is knives, but it's probably a toss up. That being said, the ones that get the most use are: 2x 3D LED Maglite 2x 4D LED Maglite 2x 3D Maglite Original Coast G20 Inspection Light Dorcy...

Do you buy every small metal "handbox" toolbox you see too? Post 'em up!

Re: Do you buy every small metal "handbox" toolbox you see too? Post 'em up! That is the exact box I was describing in my earlier post. Mine still has that sticker on the front, too. However, mine is in much worse shape.

From what I can recall: Klein GearWrench Snap On Matco (if you can find the guy) Mac (if he's still around) Channellock Knipex Greenlee We have a Fastenal here, but I never go there because it's not convenient for me. Same with Grainger. We also have a Sears, but I will never buy another...
