    heli coil question

I did the heli coil and it seems great. Had room with the stock pan in place. I'm happy!

    heli coil question

I have an extra oil pan. Think I will measure the hole and see how far off I am? (if at all?)

    heli coil question

Thanks for the thoughts! I question the quality of aluminum GM used on the Corvair. Its a blind hole but I feel like it could be drilled through but not sure it would help. It may be ok as is. But it's a Corvair, it's hobbies inc. "leaking oil" among other things! LOL So I figure don't give it a...

    heli coil question

Yep! Not so easy getting replacement gaskets (quickly) for Corvairs.

    heli coil question

resealing a 66 Corvair oil pan and wouldn't ya know it, the last bolt pulled threads out. I have the proper kit to fix but have to wonder about leaving the freshly sealed gasket and pan in place and fix that way. Any reason it won't work?

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

Love the 66! Hung out with a friend in HS who had a 66 GTA Fairlane. Was there when he bought it. Fun car!

AZ garage door window blinds (temporary)

I am open to that idea. In fact that is the plan but thought I'd see what others thought 1st. Lots of creative people on here! I am actually in Marana near Twin Peaks and Silverbell.

AZ garage door window blinds (temporary)

Never! Done. HOA says no. It's possible I end up using the same roll. Just have yet to come up with a good plan. Needs to remove easily.

AZ garage door window blinds (temporary)

My garage in Tucson faces West. Have had really good luck with foil rolls on the doors. I tinted the windows and that helped but Summer is coming and I am looking for options to keep the sun out of my garage.

Quarter panel replacement. I believe this guy overlaps the 1/4

I flanged a lower quarter repair that is well below eye level (ghost away! LOL) I **** everything else. I'd use panel bond on everything if it wasn't for ghosting.

    Sanding complex areas

Getting there. Between my fiber disc's and the roloc, I am close! Lots of hand sanding to prepare for epoxy.(next)

    Sanding complex areas

Progress, always looking for new tools. Hence the thread. Making due with what I got. The old fiber disc in the middle works the best. It's probably old enough to be made in the US. 😆

    Sanding complex areas

Interesting. I'll check out Benchmark, thanks! Had terrible luck with the new generation of "safe" strippers. Works o.k. on the top layers but does nothing to the good ol' factory paint. Not worth the mess. IMO Drawing a blank on IR? sandblaster would be okay if I had a yard that I could do...

    Sanding complex areas

Rear cove on my Corvair project has lots of shape! Looking for ideas to remove 4 or 5 layers of paint. Not a big fan of wire wheels. Thinking roloc type disc but open to ideas!

    Nonhog Garage

Bob, I love Rod and Custom! Wish it was still in print. At one point I subscribed to 8 magazines. That didn't last as it took time away from getting things done. Had about 1200 mags years ago, and I got tired of storing them so I filled the recycle bin a few times. Have a few keepers still...

    Nonhog Garage

Forgot a pic. Hard to do stuff with 1 and a half hands. Could be worse! Last post showed my 1st Hot Rod magazine. Dec. 73

    Nonhog Garage

Views of the garage as of today. Corvair has most of its needed patch panels done. Found a small batch in the corner of the driver's door. Cougar waiting its turn. Vise/ grinder mount a neighbor and I made. Bicycling has been really good for me. Actually gives me energy to get things done.

Brand new Estwing hammer with loose head

Just starting to study up on fixing hammers, (slight twist on OPs thread) I moved from the Tacoma area (think wet/damp) to Tucson (super dry) and almost all my hammers are now loose. Thinking I might try Dipropylene glycol and maybe a smack on the wedge. Any reason not to? Another approach?

For now 289. 351 in the future (with any luck 408) its been well used but I think this one is a keeper! Its factory disc brakes and bench seat, which I think is cool!
