    What strength concrete for foundation?

You are using #4 rebar (1/2") at close 10" centers. Are they crossed or just one way? If crossed you should tie them at where they cross. You can go higher psi but the large rebar is likely why the guy advised you can get by at 2500. We use higher rating in GA.

    Possible Building trouble?

Corins, if you can get the guy location 5-6 foot closer to pole you can consider another idea. have a U shaped plan view with shallow back middle area. Put a 3 foot or 7 foot garage rear exterior door and turn into a small "grill with patio area"? Good luck with it.

    Why does this smell?

...some plasticized vinyls can affect plastics like styrene, ABS, Lexan. The plasticizer chemical leeches out like a solvent. Worst case is with really soft rubbery vinyls. Why does this smell?

Could be a compression molded rubber EPDM or likely a cheaper injection molded PVC (i.e. vinyl) with plasticizers to make it rubbery + flexible. The American "design engineer" probably just loosely spec'd "black rubber" to the asian supplier. Hopefully it will not crack or split later from...

    String Trimmers, AKA weed wackers

I had the Homelite version someone mentioned- thinking since Textron/ John Deere owned the line it must be good enough. Lasted one part of a season a skimpy trigger snapped and the shaft hub warped as it could not support the motor overhang weight on the shaft. Go with homeowner or 80 series...

What size is your main box rated? Many older houses are not be able to handle a 100A sub to main box? That was why 200+A was mentioned to cover the whole house plus sub. You may only need 60 or 75A for small shop. :dunno:

painting OSB, what ya think about using Rustoleum??

Using a primer will actuallymake top coat less work as it will **** top coat which costs more than a primer sealer. Make sure it is matched to work with your rustoleum paint system- oil or latex. Sherwin Williams makes a good latex semigloss.
