Wanting some opinions on a rotary tool stand design

I was thinking of doing a rotating grinding station someday too, but haven't put much thought into it yet. Subscribed.

Girlfriend out of town. Starting demolition without approval

Don't mention it when she gets back, just wait for the reaction when she notices. :P

    Workshop 88

Wow. It really is weird how little understanding some people have of machinery. At my work (machine shop) recently I wound up "fixing" a gas-powered snow-blower and a gas-powered pressure washer that "haven't worked for about 3 years". Pulled the carbs apart, they were perfect. Both had good...

Dial indicator vs Dial test indicator

Depends on the precision you need I guess, if you need to be precise to within .0001" then it won't work of course. Otherwise it should be alright. Use your mag-base to fix your indicator to the body of the mill and have it touching on a flat area of the part, then just run the part back and...

    Project Forum

We have a fab section, but maybe adding a "wrenching" section would be good? Could cover anything people are fixing rather than making, as well as mechanical questions. Might keep the general and tool boards a bit cleaner.

    Looking for advice on connectors

Alright, I've been doing my electrical for a couple months now, with many MANY hassles and delays, but I'm almost done now except I have 1 more stupid issue (hopefully the last) I'm using a few feet of coated teck-style conduit to run my conductors between the meter base and the panel, and...

Like a Hurricane - 1960 Willys Pickup Project

Man, the farm truck is gorgeous too. Love the Willys, like you said, they're utilitarian. Just no frills tough cool trucks. I'm sure every man here is jealous of the guy with two Willys! (GOD, that was a bad joke, but just had to)

The Gin & Tonic dispensing vintage suitcase build

Oh my lord, everything else may have to be on the backburner for a while... I agree with the dry ice though, otherwise as the ice melts your case will just get soggy, leak, and fall apart. Also... 2 bottles of tonic, 1 of gin?? Did you get those two mixed up? And WHERE DO YOU GET THE LIME??? :P...

    "Wet Table"/Transmission Table Build

A magnet tray might be nice for hardware. If you get a strong enough strip-magnet and put it on the underside of the table at the end of the trough it should hold any bits of hardware from rolling into the trough too.

    building my own tool box

Cool! Whereabouts in Alberta are you? Subscribing to this for sure! I don't really understand the high-end boxes either, I'm a fan of old Beach tool-boxes or for the money go get a Lista or Rousseau. But this will be damn cool!
