Thanks! Me too! My current 95 has spun a rod bearing so it's going to get a 99 engine transplant here as soon as the garage is serviceable. 10 or 15 extra lb/ft or torque :rocker:

    new 22x22- First Garage

Nice job! I envy that you've done so much in the first year of ownership. I'm about 18 months in to my first garage and not nearly as far. I'm sure other's will disagree, but I got a few squares of racedeck to see if it was something I'd like and the noise it makes while walking it on drives...

8500 is awesome. It's quiet! The door is actually being held fully open @7', though I agree the perspective in the video makes it look lower. As soon as it stops being below freezing (next week I hope) paint will start!

Thanks, that explanation makes more sense than what I was told. I would've ended up with the same result anyway.

The garage door folks came and put in the 8500 and high lift. Apparently the 8500 had a max additional height of 54", so it's about a foot lower than I'd planned but I'm happy overall. Given the amount of engineering my old tracks took to be extended I'm glad I called in some help...

    Renovating Garage this Summer

Welcome and nice r32! I had a Mk6 R and loved it. Ever go to the Wookiees in the woods event for the R cars? Looking forward to seeing your garage progress!

Lighting was finished today. I bought and put in 3 Home Depot Link: http://tinyurl.com/or9lytn Lithonia T5HO 4 bulbs per. I have 3 of these now. Two "front to back" above where the typical car bays would be and one "left to right" over the back wall of the garage. The fixtures are 8 ft long...

So - your post was very helpful. After doing some research I'll be having the door lifted this friday. Pictures to come soon! I managed to run 110v to the corner where the opener will be mounted today and also ran 220v to an existing breaker that was wired for a hot tub that was never...

After some additional calculation and research you're probably right. Going to try and get 3x 4 light fluorescent units if I can find any I like tomorrow.

9400 lumens isn't enough for general lighting? (2400 lumens x3 + 1100 lumens x2) I have a separate work area portable light and a separate workbench light. Today I've got 2400 lumens total. Happy to fix it before it's an issue, but I thought more than 3x would be enough.

Bought a few things for the garage today. Hopefully it'll add more light than my three 60w cfls

Thanks! The NA is/was nicely sorted, but now needs a new engine. That's some of the motivation to get the garage done so I can comfortably swap in a 99+ 1.8 and add 18 ft/lbs! woo. I think getting the high lift door is going to definitely happen, just need to find a quote from someone who...

Decided on the 8500 by Liftmaster. Do most people go high lift doors in preperation for a 2 post lift? It looks like the posts would not interfere with the door track at all. It looks like my height would be limited with the standard door while it's open but I'm not sure that's worth the money...

It's been nearly a year but I've finally made some progress. I've spackled most of the walls, taken all the shelves down and primed the ceiling. Final prep and paint to come next weekend. I'm trying to decide if I want to replace my 3 standard 60-watt sockets with fluorescents, and...
