Older cars, trucks, planes and other industrial machinery used to have these sizes. In many cases, they also used odd 64th sizes as well -- Their "heyday" was in military designs and specifications, because equipment made with these fasteners could not be readily repaired, reused and scavanged...

Anything that's rebadged from other manufacturers. Such as Lisle, or Kastar for rethreading kits. It's highway robbery -- they just slap on the Snap-on logo and charge twice the price.

All the time! When you work on old Brit cars, flex sockets are a real asset.

Get some pics -- many machines were just rebranded Allen, Sun, Bear, or Marquette analyzers.

I think the "ai" is AIGO. http://www.aigokogyo.co.jp/english/company.html Good quality stuff -- Been making quality tools for international customers for decades. Many of the department and autoparts store "house brands" in the 60's and 70's were made by AIGO.

I've looked at many compressors over the years, but have never seen that design or quite that configuration. It's stationary, so are there any other markings on it? Judging by the piping, it could be a "homebrew" design.

I have them, and I can appreciate those ratchets when I'm on my back, upside down, and brackets under the dash are diggin' into my forearm. In those situations that 1/4" sure feels right!!!

As a former resident of the eastern panhandle in the great state of WV, let me say -- Welcome!! Love the state, and can't wait to move back to the mountains. I like "junk yard" garages, because you can always find some treasures in there somewhere.
