Steel overhang off a shipping container workshop

Have you noticed any buildings, much less a container, with that much roof cantilevered off of it like that and attached like that? There's a reason you haven't - they all collapsed. Your structure would need to be much much stronger than what your sketch shows. A freestanding carport would make...

    A Cobbler’s Shop

I had gotten them measured by an old Redwing dealer who said he had been doing it for about 40 years, so hopefully he knew what he was doing, but who knows? However, my toes are pretty short in relation to the rest of my foot, and the insoles I bought apparently only come in two sizes. I haven't...

    A Cobbler’s Shop

After 40 years of use, the owner may not have been too concerned with saving a buck.

    A Cobbler’s Shop

Gareth is the guy I communicated with, and who got a pair of 8 inch boots made for me. Now I'd like a pair of the moc toes.

    A Cobbler’s Shop

You should have 2 pairs of boots at a minimum so you can rotate them daily if needed and let them dry properly to reduce rot. That gives you a legit reason to try the JGs. I would say the Jim Greens are solid workmanlike quality. I bought a pair of Razorbacks when JG was first getting started...

    A Cobbler’s Shop

Rose Anvil taught me a lot a few years ago when I was looking for better boots that I could still afford. That's the only cobbler channel that I have followed.

Where can I get a 'true' kink free garden hose?

I lay my heavy duty 3/4 and 5/8 inch black rubber garden hose out as straight as I can manage and then coil it in big loops, whipping the straight part at every turn so it can un-twist. The big loops help keep the hose from taking a set in little coils that just want to twist and tangle when...

    Need a third floor jack...

Maybe "works" but I have doubts about "wonderfully".

    Need a third floor jack...

Just out of curiosity, what floor jack works wonderfully in gravel? (Forklifts and telehandlers excluded).;)

How many bags before you rent a cement mixer?

I don't think I ever read about what really happened. I just like to mention the story.

How many bags before you rent a cement mixer?

There was a news story about that a few years ago. I never caught up on the rest of the story, but some lady claimed that someone demoed and hauled off her slab.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

    Not ice? Slacker!

How many bags before you rent a cement mixer?

I know three things about concrete: It's grey, it's heavy, and it's gonna crack.

    Garage island set up ideas?

I agree with everyone else. Keep it mobile, but let it sit on feet when you aren't moving it. Go upscale from HF for the caster/feet. It will be worth it.

HF Welding Helmets - Yay or Nay?

TIG is generally closer working distance, especially for small stuff and low amps.

Old Skil 1/4 inch F012237200 rechargeable ratchet part needed

I have this ancient little Skil ratchet, looks like this. I really liked it until the battery aged out.The battery died about a decade ago, so I ordered a replacement. I got around to soldering the new battery in last year only to find that one of the little spur gears from the planetary...

    Cat (Snap-On) tool haul

SO dealers have to allow for all of the tools they sell on truck accounts and never see again after collecting between 2 weeks and 2 years of payments. I wouldn't have that job.

HF Welding Helmets - Yay or Nay?

Tarmy, you do know that you are among the 1% here, right? Most of the rest of us don't have the financial wherewithal to buy the very best of everything, and that outer piece of clear plastic on every welding helmet viewport is legally required to stop the UV. None of the manufacturers mentioned...

    Show your "Mini" Tool Box.

Theres a reason why toolboxes with drawers and no locks or latches aren't generally used in vehicles. Wrong application for the design. I use zippered tool bags in my vehicles.
