I use an old cookie sheet. Once hardened I can flex the pan and pop the pile-o-filler off.

Do you need to put the pivot points in line with the suspension pivot mounts to reduce bump steer? It would look like the DS would be longer than the PS due to the Ford IFS.

I had to pull an electric brake drum off my trailer yesterday. Roadside so I had very few tools on hand. Darn thing wouldn't slide off. Slid a cam strap through a window in the wheel I had taken off, then bolted the loop eyes to the drum with the lug nuts. Stand up and swing the tire between my...

I'm not sure which way your rafters run, but could you put an eye bolt to the outside of each pulley mount (4 total) and drop a cam strap from each one. Once the top is in place, you could pull the cam straps under the canopy, hook and pull tight, then relax the winch into the straps for the...

It's by far a lot fancier than mine. I just painted the walls white and picked up some checkerboard stick down tile when I did mine.

What kind of shape are the syncros in? Mine shifted very fast but the main bearings started having a ton of slop in them. It would pop out of 3rd when going over a hill at highway speed going from power to coast. Had it gone through with another box and swapped parts (poor college student at...

Growing up, we had a local parts house where a retired Ford parts guy ended up working. He new parts numbers better than the books. It was always pretty cool to call and get "Bummer" on the phone, discuss what you needed, he'd guarantee the part, put it on the account and drop it by the house...

Quality aside, I'm thinking the online parts retailers are cutting into the store volumes sold at the parts houses. Lower volumes lead to lower profit with minimal margin. I used to have an Advanced Auto, O'Reilly's and a NAPA in town. AA couldn't keep up and closed, O'Reilly's has some foot...

I've got to give you credit for working on the Subie. I now have 3 in my fleet and they are different for sure. How viscous is the assembly lube you were using? Could it be put into something like a Zoom-spout oil container to apply it with a fine tip nozzle to keep it where you want it?

Do the O2 sensors get abused and soot up when the air/fuel ratio is messed up enough to cause runability issues until the engine gets up to a certain temp?

It's nice when parts are available. Any reason to give it another smoke test to see if anything else pops up?

For as many miles as you put on the truck, how fast do you figure this will wear out rear tires?

I may have to try those. I mark up a 300' fiberglass tape to indicate intervals and a regular sharpie bleeds off way too quickly.

A buddy of mine had sights on a sled in the next state over one June and hit me up to see if I was up for a road trip. Planning on the trip, we decided he didn't need the drag of the front salt shield so he removed it to reduce drag. In doing so, the 2-place open trailer was a bit more...
