SORRY!! about my tip on Evapo-Rust item 303724279992 ebay. The listing has been removed by 'bay, I have not yet received the Evap. Sounds like they at least suspect it was a scam. New seller, only 5 feedbacks, but then we all started at zero. I've sent a request for refund or proof of...

Mystery logo - it could be a stylized I H X - no idea what that may stand for, though!

Good catch - A buck a gallon less, free local pickup, but I'd have to pay local and state sales tax. Shipped in to me it's state only .... pennies, but still- For me, not having that much of it sitting around is good. I mostly rely on the ol' E-tank. I only use Evaporust to get to the...

Sorry, I left out "at a hefty profit", like enough to pay for his barn.

My small but growing collection of Wizard tools (all Western Auto welcome)

You'd think that as avid collectors as GJers are, someone in this thread would have a Westcraft wrench (combo, DOE or DBE) in the distinctive V groove pattern. Easiest to find pix of is Snap-On VS series. But noooo , I continue to search in vain. I've found pictures of three Westcraft...

    Two Junkyard Vises

Should work - the only function of the washing soda is to make the water electrically conductive. Pretty much anything that will dissolve in water will do that. It's just that Sodium Carbonate (or its close cousin Sodium Bicarbonate - baking soda) is cheap and otherwise benign. The worst it...

Used Compressor Shopping - Advise On What To Look For

I second the 5 gal. bucket notion for intake quieting. Mine came (used) with no intake at all, so I fabbed up a pipe and two discs to sandwich a round paper cartridge AF. Noisier than I liked, so I put a a 5gal pail over it, with a strip of foam rubber around the top and bottom to hold in...

DO NOT ORDER!! It's at least a suspected scam- eBay has deleted the listing and I haven't received mine as of 10/20. Check ePay for Evaporust. 1 gal $16.99, free shipping. Not my listing, no interest except passing the word along. I ordered one- I think that leaves 9 available. And...

Neighbors dont like my barn project - threaten zoning appeal

welll... let's see - A: the neighbor's problem is he doesn't have enough land to build a barn. B: You have five times as much land as he. Solution: Sell him just enough of your land that he'll have enough to build his own barn. everyone happy, happy, happy!

15" Rockwell drill press spring tension

Try this: http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=5837 No mention of a screw to adjust return tension. Dated 1975, about right for mfr date of mine. Not a great copy, but legible. And here are a couple of pix of the slots and bump I was talking about. Note that you do not move the...

15" Rockwell drill press spring tension

I have one of these too, which I bought used 35 years ago! There is no screw on mine either. I have adjusted it for use with a mortising chisel, and I don't remember it being particularly difficult, but it's been a long time. I just took a look at it, and orientation may be the key. The...

    Chainsaw Bar Oil

Easy way to see the difference. Grab a bit of motor oil between thumb and forefinger. Slowly open the gap. Now wipe off and do the same thing with bar oil. See the difference?

    Post up your Thorsen tools!

Thanks, D42 - The one I thought would be reasonably easy, but has eluded me thus far is Westcraft. One of Western Auto's brands, you'd think there should quite a few around, but so far no joy. I found one in the possesion of a Tool Archives member, but the site crashed before I could make...

    Post up your Thorsen tools!

Another VeeGee - sort of. I've had one example badged KAL for a few years, but it wasn't a very good specimen. Then, cruising the 'bay I spied this gem. It's actually NEW! Not a sign of use anywhere on it, just the tiniest bit of drawer wear, and not even horribly expensive. $13 brought it...
