Below 265 SQ/FT Tiny Tokyo Shop

A hundred or so per head for a special occasion would not be too much. So I guess my fears may be revealing my lack of knowledge of Japanese sushi. Thanks for the input. I suppose I should try a bit harder to find something good locally. Perhaps that will do until we take a trip to Japan (we...

Below 265 SQ/FT Tiny Tokyo Shop

I mentioned my concerns to my wife at some point, and she dismissed it saying the sort of things I dislike are not likely to actually be served in a Japanese sushi place. Keep in mind, my entire experience in the matter comes from American sushi restaurants, aside from watching a documentary...

Below 265 SQ/FT Tiny Tokyo Shop

I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread... while the DIY efforts are very interesting and to be commended, what I find even more intriguing is the social commentary and cultural differences explained within. I haven't yet traveled to Japan, perhaps someday I will.... I would love to order...

    14th annual GJ Secret Santa!

I'm running behind this year. Been a crazy few days. Santa loaded me up with all kinds of awesome things. Datsun t-shirt (appropriate since I have a 720 4x4 pickup for a project), real nice vintage "The Ideal" pocket knife, vintage Supreme lighter, Mac tools promotional screwdriver from a...

    14th annual GJ Secret Santa!

Well... it's outbound. ETA 12/20. But the guy at the brown sleigh depot gave me the wrong receipt, which I did not notice til much later. So I no longer have a tracking number. :( I hope it makes it ok.

    14th annual GJ Secret Santa!

It has arrived! Outbound should be on the brown sleigh to an adjacent state tomorrow. Will confirm with ETA once it's on the way.

Lets see your SWAG bandsaw table set up

I keep meaning to pick up one of these. I have some old HF bandsaw with a broken handle. I suppose that would suit if I can figure out which Swag kit would fit it.

    I'm Getting 200amp Service

I had a heck of a time finding a meter base / breaker combo for the new 200A service to my new workshop. I swear I must have finally picked up the only one in the metro ATL area. Still can't find plain 20A breakers (QO) locally. 40C (104F) can't be fun.

    Overhead doors .....long lead times.

Yes. I asked for a quote... then was a few weeks past the 30 day validity of the quote when I said "Yes, order me that". Price went up over 20% in that short time. :shocking:

    Overhead doors .....long lead times.

Yeah, I ordered a custom door a while back. Dealer told me 8 weeks. It ended up being about double that. Now they can't get the touch up paint to fix the door that arrived scuffed.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT South Georgia 36x50x14

It's a slow process for sure. I signed paperwork for mine I think right at a year ago... It got built in March, but between concrete, door, electricity, etc... I'm still working on it. Looking forward to seeing yours come together. Curious, what builder is it?

"Properly" hook up an ancient IdealArc 250/250?

Disconnect may or may not be required, I'd feel better about having something within arm's reach. That said, come to think of it... I may end up putting this thing right next to the breaker box, so I may be ok without a separate disconnect. As to wire size #6 vs #8... it depends on the type of...

"Properly" hook up an ancient IdealArc 250/250?

Right, which is where I'm getting conductors sized for 49.7A despite rated current of 70A (at 200A secondary). I found a manual for a later version of the welder... also shows 70A at 50% duty cycle for 200A secondary current as well as 86A at 30% duty cycle for 250A secondary current...

"Properly" hook up an ancient IdealArc 250/250?

I have an old Lincoln IdealArc 250/250 (probably 1970s vintage) that I'd like to hook up in a new detached garage/workshop at my house. Plenty of anecdotal evidence of these running on normal 50A welder circuits at lower power settings, but I'd like to have this thing hooked up "right" in my new...
