Hitachi makes some diamond tipped drill bits that are available at Lowes. I walked down the aisle and saw them just earlier today.

I've got the motorized version of that model - or very similar to it - as many of the parts look identical to yours. I've had mine since 1986.

+1 That's the first thing I noticed in the picture. Thats adding weight, stress, and keeping a lot of moisture trapped on the structure.
