3/8" or 1/2" air hose for automotive shop?

My pressure pot sand blaster ***** a lot of CFM. It would benefit from a 1/2" hose. I use 100' of 3/8" hose directly off of the air tank and it is noticeable. I have plans to plumb the shop in 3/4" hardline and then run 50' of 1/2" hose out to the blaster, as I blast larger things out in the...

Do I need to Insulate Exhaust Hood Duct?

I installed an exhaust hood over the stove in the kitchen. I used 6" rigid duct routed through the attic to a roof vent cap. The attic is non-conditioned. Should I insulate that rigid duct? Thanks.

In the Market for a Laser Level

Ohh no, you can see that with the naked eye. I believe the carpenters were sober when they built my house.

In the Market for a Laser Level

I would like to spend a reasonable amount of money for a quality product that will last me many years. Don't need the Cadillac, but don't want the Metro either.

In the Market for a Laser Level

Probably choice 'B'. I'm looking to project level laser lines on the wall to hang cabinets. Or to locate an axle on a rock crawler. I'm trying to get away from plumb bobs.

In Need of a Filter and Regulator for Air Compressor

'Amazon' Returns can be a jackpot for the cheap. It's also a hell hole of the fraudulent. I have sought out 'Amazon Returns' for years now. Most items I get are great - someone bought it and decided they dont want it. Recently I bought a phone case - someone's old case was in the box! Worn...

In Need of a Filter and Regulator for Air Compressor

I know best practice is to regulate pressure at point of use. Problem is the Maxline setup has a max pressure of 200PSI at 73F and 160PSI at 140F. My garage is unconditioned and I know the lines are likely to be above ambient when I start working the compressor hard. I'm thinking it would be...

In Need of a Filter and Regulator for Air Compressor

I hear you on starting with straight sticks. I fit pipe for a living. I loathe dealing with a roll of tubing. BUT, I am cheap. This is a slow process as I have two kids, a wife, and travel for work 60% of the year.

Mulch or other surface options for outdoor playset

I paid a guy to dump 3 yards of hardwood chips in the yard. I think I paid him $75 or so for the load. He got them from a local sawmill that makes pulp for paper or something. The hardwood chips are rated for use on playgrounds. That was about 3 years ago. They are getting thin / broken...

In Need of a Filter and Regulator for Air Compressor

Hello all. I have a Quincy 325 with the pressure switch set to 175 PSI. I would like to install a water separator and regulator to drop the pressure down to 90 PSI. My largest draw is going to be a pressure pot sand blaster. I have a filter at the sandblaster to further dry the air (one of...

    Code Question for the Sparkies

The wifi in the shed is so so. The controller you link is not compatible with HomeKit. The Leviton switches ****, I have two and they dont respond all of the time and frequently fall off of the app.

    Code Question for the Sparkies

I have an above ground pool in the backyard. There is a shed ~10' away that I am moving the pump and filter into. The pump is a 1.5 hp 120v pump, that draws 11 amps on high speed. I want to control the pump with Apple HomeKit. I have not found a HomeKit compatible pump controller. BUT, I...

Add Smoke Detector to Mechanical Room?

My house is all electric, no gas appliances in the house. From my research, a CO detector is not needed in my application. Why do you suggest a heat detector?

Add Smoke Detector to Mechanical Room?

I have easy access to the attic, will be wicked simple to tap in another one. I just replaced all of them in the house a couple months ago. I'll get another one of the same series.

Add Smoke Detector to Mechanical Room?

I'll monitor temps in there with a heat/humidity sensor. If there is an increase in temps from the rest of the house, then I'll add a vent in there. I don't plan to run any high heat producing equipment in there, so hopefully it will be fine.

Add Smoke Detector to Mechanical Room?

I am in process of building out the mechanical room in my home. I absorbed a chunk of the master closet into the mechanical room to add space for a server rack (geeking out with the home network / automation stuff). The room is now 6'x7' and houses the air handler, water heater, water...

Looking for a Double Gang Box that accepts 1 1/2" Conduit

I am building out my home entertainment setup. Bank of cabinets below the TV mounted on the wall. I have torn the area down to the studs to soundproof the wall (laundry room behind it), attach conduit to the face of the studs, then build another wall in front of that. I want to run a section...

    EV Charger Plug

I would rather use the charger that came with the car. It is a Chevy Bolt and they do not charge particularly fast, so I don't see a need to upgrade to a faster charger. I would also like the option to use the socket for welding out in the driveway.
