I am under the impression the oil pressure in this pump is like an engine - as the bearings wear the clearances get larger and the oil pressure drops. Am I wrong to assume that?

It doesn't blow my finger off. The 325s have a crankcase breather that pipes into the inlet side of the pump. That pipe is in good condition. I haven't used it enough to measure oil consumption.
