    Epstein’s Day 2023

I added two new Channellock items: the 6-in-1 screwdriver and the 6 piece screwdriver set I posted a special super secret garage journal price so this is a good test to see if you are signed up for Epstein's Day. If you're logged in to our site, you should see a different price.

    Tekton/Rousseau 60" box feedback wanted

We worked out a deal with Tekton to have one of their large roll-around boxes down at the shop. Not sure when they're shipping it, but it will be in the Kansas City area sometime soon. Will be interested to check them out in person.

    Epstein’s Day 2023

I'm pretty sure the Channellock screwdrivers and the mayhew screwdrivers are the exact same besides the color, so I wasn't thinking of getting them from Mayhew but if some guys want them I can see what I can do. Getting our logo on stuff is hard right now but we will have those 2 piece pocket...

    Epstein’s Day 2023

Heading into Epstein's Day I thought I'd do a series of videos highlighting small US manufacturing success stories. The first is Rudedog USA which is a specialty tool pouch manufacturer (mostly for ironworkers) but they're branching out into other fields. Might not be exaclty what you guys are...

    Epstein’s Day 2023

We usually do it around July 4th. Since it's on a Tuesday this year, I'm thinking the weekend before.

    Epstein’s Day 2023

We're making the calls and pulling it all together. So far we have a generous donation from Wright to make the official Epstein's Day shirts. Lang is going to make a good deal on those 2 piece mini pry bars and Malco could possibly do something on the eagle grips. Other than that we have calls...

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

I've always thought of the screw as a pre-adjustment mechanism, so you gauge what tension you want before you clamp. Not sure if tightening while it's clamped would hurt the tool or not. Imagine there is a way to over-tighten which is what may happen if you're adjusting it with an impact.

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

We were getting heavy attacks on our site and had to shut down access outside the US. The problem's been fixed so I'll go ahead and relist PR (and also Australia). Should happen today.

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

FYI. What's happening with price on the Eagle Grips is that when the factory shut down there was a significant increase in demand since a lot of companies wanted to hop into the market and so the competition drove down the price on platforms like Amazon. We didn't change our price as there's a...

    Knipex new MiUSA manufacturing?

I asked Knipex about the rumor they were building a plant in the US and they said, "not happening".

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

We've been a Channellock distributor for 60+ years.

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

Hmm. Have heard 0 from SK. We were one of their largest distributors and reached out multiple times and never got a phone call back. After that press release that made it sound like they were going to leverage the manufacturing ability of Great Star's, I all but gave up, but after seeing that...

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

They're coming soon. I'd imagine you'll see the same style pop up under other US manufacturers as well. Pay no attention to "list" price of course.

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

Much like the Malco plant, the western forge equipment is just sitting there, and I think various US manufacturers are trying to do the math and see if it's worth moving/starting it back up again.

Epstein's Tool Gossip : Channellock's New Locking Pliers

In other news... heard Martin was thinking about getting into the US adjustable wrench biz but decided not to. The hang-up is how expensive it is to make that knurled piece. Looked at the economics and decided the risk wasn't worth it. Too bad.
