All that waiting stinks. When I bought a snowblower on CL, the seller had a buyer, but the next day I got a call saying, "... the buyer should have been here an hour ago, Do you still want it ?" A deal's a deal. Your seller was foolish,; he could have lost both buyers.

A carpenter's hammer has a hardened face for striking a soft nail. A ball pein hammer is not hardened, for striking a hardened tool like a chisel. Don't hit two carpenter's hammers together.

I probably had some bad technique that time somehow. I DID use RTV on the diff cover on my Ford with success. No leaks there. Mostly I don't like the RTV because it's such a pain to clean off next time. I will allow that on this particular Jeep vehicle, the trans gasket is wet with a seep...

I've done this work on our '02 several times. I offer the following. Drop the diff cover and drain the rear that way. I use a gasket after having trouble getting the RTV to seal the first time. Probably the rear is a Chrysler 8.8"( Oops. That's my Ford. Chrysler 8.25") . But if it's a...
