I see lots of stick battery Makita’s come up on FB marketplace. I have a similar drill as yours from my father in law. The Chuck was seized, but I use it for some things after rehabbing it.

    Napa Annual Clearance

What’s the general consensus on the Evercraft 90 pc socket set? I’m looking to replace some stolen ones. [URL=https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7740290]link[ URL]

I had that set before upgrading. It is pretty solid. Drill was nice and lightweight, impact was excellent. They are both upper-mid tier offerings in Makita’s lineup, and brushless. I never had any issues with sticking. I’d recommend looking at the XT333X1 combo, which goes on sale relatively...

    Best Impact Bit?

I appreciate his tests. I'm curious about the procedure for this one, though. I imagine impact force is different than a steadily increasing static load. I'm guessing the bit designers and metallurgists would optimize for resistance to impact as opposed to resistance to static loads. I'm no...

    Makita 2.6 gal compressor MAC700 $170 @ CPO

I picked up this deal new, as I needed a compressor for a bunch of upcoming trim work. Previous to this I've used several low-end, oil-free compressors (various pancake or double tank). This is obviously higher quality. It is incredibly heavy. It came double boxed, each box being double...

I picked up a MAC700 air compressor off CPO for $160. Unboxed it and ran the break-in procedure, and I'm really impressed. This thing reaches pressure in about a minute.

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

I'm gearing up to do some built-in beds for my kids in a house we are renovating. I currently have a ShopSmith model 510, which I've used for several small projects. I've not been a huge fan of the table saw, however. I'm looking to pick up a used saw, but I'm not incredibly familiar with older...

That’s interesting! I have been pretty happy with HF’s Quantum lights, but I’ve always thought that it would be nice to have one that worked with my battery system. How does the DML801 compare to the HF folding light bar?

Tools you wish you had known about before you did it the hard way

Basin Wrench! I spent half a day trying to get a faucet off, using a dremel, torch, and just about every tool in my box and losing most of my knuckle skin. Ended up putting a new sink on to fix the issue. Now I have a basin wrench, and think about that day every time I replace a faucet.

Same here, mine have them all shoved off into a section near tool rental. I’m wondering if they built too many floor models, or if they didn’t sell well at all. A pretty stark difference from Harbor Freight!
