    Show your new tool arrivals

I followed the collective wisdom of GJ a few years ago and got basically, this, but with a locking indexing of the flex. Or not locking, up to you. They were right, great thing to have. And I love the comfort grips.

I've been using WD-40 myself (for other things my pruners do, no pine here) and it's okay. Doesn't get it all. I've seen products alleged to be just for pruners and am skeptical if contact cleaner or some other chemical nasty would just do it with ease. Googling tonight, I find this, possibly...

Also, don't do what I do! Leave the stovetop on until the skillet starts smoking and burning off its carbon layer. Of course, there is always a long-term solution: keep cooking with it! It will return.

    Underground Lair of the Squankum

I've heard that athletes foot is pretty much unheard of in the warmer parts of the world where bare feet or flip flops are the norm. Us, with our shoes and socks, well, dark and moist... I was tickled to find that flip flop foundry video last night, because decades ago I had seen a photo in the...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Bob Heine's Auto Emporium

Think of the money you could have saved with your box cutter! An ice pack you can strap to your head, like this? Every invention, no matter how simple, had to start somewhere! About ten years ago I was invited to lunch at a neighbor's house, and they had a friend there who had invented such...

Yes, that's the box cutter I still have! Except it's for Castrol. And yes, thanks to GJ, I've learned about those plastic "razor blades" and have sent some to friends, too. One of my uses in the above-ground shabby dwelling is removing various gifts the cats leave on the hardwood floor.

    Harry J Epstein Day 2026

Got my third HJE order today! Quick, small order, no box art, order made on July 13th. Order #1 still pending, but hey, artwork. Eklind 5mm is heavy, sturdy. Like a Bondhus T, you can tell there's metal in that T. Wilde long cotter pin puller is long! Sensibly priced! This will become my...

In case you hadn't noticed, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., son of Dale, retired from NASCAR a few years ago, too many concussions, nothing left to prove. He's now become a podcaster. He's an amiable guy and good interviewer. Here's an episode I stumbled across this week, the story of a teenaged boy who...

Oh, another thought about these last two lab tests of the engine's oil: nothing in them indicates that the K&N air filter is failing to do its job, as much as people feel compelled to poop on them.

Now I've uploaded it. I need to relearn redaction and how to upload these things every time. This time I remembered redaction and got it done quickly! Meaning I had to pay a price for step two. Highway miles are great.

Did an oil change last month on the ol' Econoline. 4.6 liter SOHC 2V V-8. There is some confusion because I wrote "several" in the part of the lab report request form where they ask about oil additions. I really don't know! Just know that one of the employees is conscientious and checks oil...
