Honestly Racedeck has a great tool to build your own floor on their site. This is what I used and got exactly what I wanted. The only thing I recommend is doing as some suggest and lay a barrier under the tile. It helps to lessen the noise of walking on plastic tiles.

I have the diamond plate as well as the ribbed. I do not have any super heavy equipment though. The ribbed I would think could be troublesome but the diamond plate are not huge bumps so I have no real issue moving things over it. Will it take more effort? of course but its marginal in my opinion.

Without seeing the garage I would go with the shed option. Main reason is you can also put items besides the parts out there and clear out more garage space.

I did this setup in my garage. I live in the northeast so we get some good snow as well but I have not been able to test it out yet.

I did a homemade setup like others here. Hikvision cameras with blue iris running on a independent desktop for the DVR. As stated before I do not recommend getting the cameras from amazon. You will spend more for the real thing but they work out of the box.

Well one thing with wear is what will you use it for? Simply driving on it I am sure will not even phase the tile. Now jacking up cars, metalwork, etc would be much more abrasive to it.

I agree with rooster shooter. I do not think racedeck will do exactly what you want/need. If this was more of a showroom / mild work area then I would say it would be ok.

Not sure how tech you want to go but I have been looking to the Z wave stuff and it could possibly do what you want. Depending on where you wish to put it.

Imagine trying to find a repair man for this thing. "Uhh yea so my secret garage elevator needs repair." I do think it is awesome but almost wonder if I would tire or waiting on that damn thing all the time.
