    Water Heater Under Garage Sink

20+ years ago I happened upon a used 6-gallon water heater that I've since then used in my backyard shop. A few days ago, it leaked, and fortunately I caught it before it flooded too much. I did mop up a few gallons of water, and thankfully with our recent low-humidity days everything has...

Grease Gun Grease - Which One?

Thank you. After posting this I remembered that some years ago, at work, they discarded a 5-gallon bucket of Mobilux 2 grease. It somehow followed me home and has never been opened. Can I refill my grease gun from this bucket? Is it as simple as spooning it from the bucket to the opened...

    Let's Talk About Teflon Tape

With this discussion I've learned a lot about Teflon tape. Thank you. It seems I've been mostly using it correctly. 3 to 4 layers and keep it off the end so it doesn't get inside the piping. What I wasn't doing well was wrapping it tight, so it pulls down into the threads. Going forward...

Grease Gun Grease - Which One?

My grease gun usage is mostly the bearings on the Kabota riding mower and the suspension of the old Camaro. Occasionally something else will need greased. What is my best selection of grease? Harbour Freight offers three choices. No more than I use I don't mind buying the "premium" option...

    Let's Talk About Teflon Tape

I've used Teflon tape for years during my projects around the house. I used some this morning and realized that I really don't know how many layers around the threads are recommended, or what else I may not know. What I have done over the years has worked and has held the seal. I know to go...

At my local store I got the last one visible on the shelf. Don't know if they might have more in the back. This thing seems pretty solid for $60.

    What's the Best Fold-Up Sawhorse

Lots of options and lots of input. Thanks to all. Those from Menards look good for the money, and there are many others identified. I bought a pair of the Bauer units from Harbour Freight. Using their $25 off coupon, with sales tax, my price was $102 out-the-door for the pair. I've unpacked...

    What's the Best Fold-Up Sawhorse

I'm in the market for a pair of folding sawhorses. I want them because the homemade set I now have are sturdy but consume a lot of floor space when not in use, which is most of the time. Their advantages are when needed I place them outside and use them, then put them back. The fold up design...

    LED Lighting/Garage Opener Issue Fix?

I recently removed the ballasts in 8 overhead lights and installed LED T8 bulbs. They interfere with FM radio reception. If I could figure out replacements that don't interfere I'd consider replacing them. Haven't noticed interference with garage door openers, as they don't frequently get opened.

How Should I Build a Cedar Chest?

Today the two 9.5' long cedar trunk pieces were moved to the sawmill. I talked with a local cabinet builder who suggested cutting to 5/4" thick to allow shrinkage and planing. Plus, a slab 2" thick to provide the base trim pieces. He said he has a planer that can easily accommodate these...

How Should I Build a Cedar Chest?

Thank you everyone for your input, and also for the photos of the old trunk. That looks really nice. The son of the man who runs the sawmill lives nearby and he runs a landscaping business. Monday he is supposed to trailer the cedar trunk to the sawmill which is about 10 miles from my home...

How Should I Build a Cedar Chest?

When Hurricane Helena raced through our area I lost 4 trees on my land. Two pecan trees, that are tilting over, a large oak that thankfully fell away from our house and a large cedar tree. I have most of it cleaned up, but the tilted stumps remain. Hope to soon get them moved. However...

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

The guy working at Lowe's suggested I do this. I went to the desk, and they sent me an email inviting me to sign up. But in the signing up I need to identify the type and name of my business. So, I hesitated the sign up, as I'm not running a business. Not sure if I should proceed.
