You don’t need heat to bend flat bar to 90, if you have the proper size punch and die. And enough tonnage in your ram. Heat will certainly help if your tonnage or tooling is less than ideal.

I use an old high school set of lockers in the horizontal. There are 4 in the set. I have the doors hingeing downward. Works great for 1 gallon paint cans and such.

I can’t count how many times people have come into my shop with JB smeared over some broken bolt or metal part that they want me to now repair properly. They see the word weld and think that it will just magically fix their mess. Now I am expected to clean off the goo and fix it . Aaargh
