What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? I finally started painting so that the damned thing won't be pink anymore. I can't wait to finally not have a pink garage. PO had some.... interesting tastes in color.

Which one of you vise addicts is this?

I'm thinking it's this latter idea.

    GM Performance Parts tools?

I've got a set I keep in my car as I prefer to keep my nice stuff at home. They are made in Taiwan. They got me through repairs in college just fine. That said, I'm not sure how much I trust them under continued, heavy use.

Eulogy for USA Craftsman Tools ( Rot In Hell China Replacements )

I see both sides of the issue. On one hand, I understand that it was likely getting expensive for Craftsman to keep working with US manufacturers. It's a surprise they held out as long as they did. On the other hand, I also own a lot of Craftsman that I hate the idea of trading in for a product...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? I swapped the injectors on my 89 Iroc. Test drive tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed, ha ha.

    Positive Signs for US Manufacturing

It's a very interesting perspective and a refreshing one at that. Thanks for sharing!

    Tools you've found

There are some great finds here. Only thing I ever found in the road was a nearly brand new Craftsman screwdriver.

Refurbs as warranty replacements at Sears?

Same experience here. Brought in one an older Craftsman 1/2 with the oil hole at the top that had started slipping. I was given a fairly new ratchet that had already needed to be rebuilt and was pretty worn down in spots. It's nice to have a working ratchet again, but it still bothers me for two...

    Look at what I saved.

That is so cool. Now I have to make one!

Think twice about clay tile roof for your garage!

Hell, I like bats. They keep the bugs away. Wouldn't bother me a bit. That said, if it's letting bats in, it's probably not adequately keeping things like water out. That is what would concern me.

    Found this cool gear!!

That's pretty damn cool. Beats the hell out of the small coffee can I'm using for the same purpose.

Did i get screwed on ebay?

I've never had paypal problems. I have had a package end up at the wrong address before, however. Just contact the seller. Sometimes they are shipping to multiple people and addresses get mixed up. I was very fortunate and had a seller who worked with me on it every day until I had my correct...

    Cochran Garage

Love it. What a cool tribute to your grandfather as well as simply being a cool, vintage-style garage.

Handy Andy Fold Down Tool Workbench

No moar crudz/goopz! :bounce: Now that the gunk is gone, I think I may just preserve this piece as is, use it, and enjoy its patina.

GE Bench Grinders with one Wheel?

I just looked at the same thing at a flea market, only this one was a 1/2 horsepower. Just one wheel out the side. This one was twenty bucks, however. I was going to pick it up, but when i tested it on an outlet, it didn't work. Set it back down and walked away. I was pretty disappointed.

That is IDENTICAL to this lamp. Now I see what the bulb socket was supposed to look like and what piece it was that was missing that we made in my dad's shop. Hmmm, it would be nice to have a switch on it like that, too. The way I wired it I just have the lamp on anytime I plug the unit in. I'll...

Handy Andy Fold Down Tool Workbench

I've seen the kid brand items. I'm not sure they're related, though. I don't know how a kid could use this thing. It's taller than my other workbench I typically use. Also, out of all the different iterations of the Handy Andy logo on those tool boxes, not one of them I've found matches the one...

Handy Andy Fold Down Tool Workbench

I'm also pretty sure it wouldn't have come with anything. Would still be cool to find an ad or something, though. I'd love to know how old it is and how many are around. I can't find anything like it anywhere. Pretty nifty little deal. It's a little awkward to access tools with the...

Handy Andy Fold Down Tool Workbench

The box is 40" tall x 20" wide x 6" deep. 1" wide lip all the way around that only curls back in 3/4". The bench is 39" long by 20 " wide and is 1" thick (the last inch of length is made up by the hinge). It is held in place by three rivets in the bottom and one on each side towards the bottom...
