    Max workable slip off on hyraulic fittings is 1mm IMHO ,any more and you damage fittings ,flare nuts etc .

    When I was at uni ,I purposely bought four wheels from a earlier model Ford so I could easily change tires myself .........mainly so I could use the $1 remould tires that all the taxis used ..........i always had good tread while other student cars had canvas...

    Id insert a sharp screwdriver at one of the lug points .......these are much stronger than the case edge ........worm housing seems the best place to me......once you lift one edge ,the rest will just crack open

    I ve seen polyurethane sealant tear big pieces from fibreglass boat hulls .......modern sealants really stick

    Some sealants (blue /orange silicone) can have mighty stiction.......lift a 700lb gearbox on the sealant alone on a six inch square selecter top .......once you break one edge they generall come easily

    I would also carry a pair of the longest cheap tire levers ,not so much for tires ,but more for changing attitudes in a situation ...and yes ,a 24 to 29" breaker bar and a wheel nut size impact socket is a must ......Yes to a cheap air pump tire inflator .....no to any impact...

    Quality pliers always have milled relief around the jointing ......cheap ones have feather edges that burr up ......funny thing is SnapOn pliers now have these cheap features .

    Shed builder who did my shed had all Milwaukee ,his pickup must have had a million bucks in red tools and batteries .......I was charged $400 extra for generator hire by the shed co ,the builder said he would not use onsite power even if supplied ,simply because everything he had was battery.

    One time the local big box hardware had big fruit barn style tubs full of new reject tools ...a mix of good stuff and rubbish ......anyhoo ,everything was 50 cents ......I got a tipoff and got there early ,and sorted out lots of quality stuff , the fleamarkt traders...
